Leefer, thanks for the tip. I checked the tripod thread on my Canon and it's a 1/4-20, so I might hit up Lowe's today and see if I can homebrew something.

in Glen Burnie, the place known to the locals as " the V " has fallen trees everywhere...I went down in the V to take a shortcut to a friends house and ended up hitting a freakin massive pothole, and screwed a tire and rim...the pic is in the what did you do to your jeep today thread.

Engine: 1987 4.0L (242 CID) I6 RENIX FI 242 173 hp (129 kW) @ 4600 rpm, 224 lb•ft (304 N-m) @ 4000RPM
So I went to Crazy Ray's in Edgewood on Saturday around 1pm.
they have/had 17 Jeep Cherokees 88 - 99
almost all of them (90%) are 100% complete under the hood and most (50%) of the interiors are still complete.
Only a few had tires or wheels. nothing special, stock stuff.
If you can trust the odometers then a good majority of them have less than 150K on them.
2 had a rebuilt engine and 1 had everything new from gaskets to belts to a painted/sandblasted valve covers.
I even counted approx 4 or 5 that even had stock skid plates for the engine and/or gas tanks. 1 had a aftermarket swing arm tire carrier. and there were, iirc, i think 2 that had dana 44s in them. a good majority had the center console that would work for both the 84-96 and 97-01. and there were a few that had the stock shocks for the tailgate that still worked. 1 has a push bar & snow plow attachement for the XJ.
There were 3 Jeep CJs in various deconstruction stages, nothing worth mentioning really... Several Grand Cherokees and they did have maybe 6 or so Ford Explorers with the 8.8 still intact. Oh and a crap load of neons but i didnt for the injectors, no tools...
I took pics of all the Cherokees that i can post if someone needs them / wants to see them..
It was sad, there was so many jeeps there but i wasn't able to do any wrenching to get parts (my g/f didnt let me bring tools). All I wanted was a not cracked exhaust manifold for my 87 and there was even one almost done just holding on by 2 bolts
well, happy wrenching to those that make the drive...

If anyone's near Edgewood and willing to meet closer to Frederick, I'm interested in a center console lid (gray) and skids for my '01. I have a gas tank skid, and I don't need an engine skid, but I'm looking for any others. I know 96XJclassic is looking for a D44 rear with gears between 3.73 and 4.10.

If anyone wants to grab a engine skid for the xj and a drag link / tie rod setup (off the zj v8) for me, I may be willing to pay premium price...

You were? That`s about the time I was there. What were you driving? There's always a lot of XJs there. I saw one I was thinking about the engine on. It was a '96 with only 133,000 miles but the rear was crashed in so I was thinking the engine would be a good one to get as mines getting up in miles.

Comanche rears are axle over spring, Cherokee's are spring over axle. You'll have to cut the perches off and flip em.
