http://www.4wheelparts.com/off-road/electric-winch.aspx

"In other words, an electric winch has the most pulling power when 1-2 complete layers of winch cable are wound around the winch drum due to a lower gear ratio."

Negetive, the more line that stays on the drum the less pull power the winch has. If you have a 10K winch it is only a full 10K pull with a single layer on the drum, 2 layers is 7.5K, 5 layers 5K and so on. Thats why a winch is about useless without ****** blocks. Not only does it allow you to change the angle of the pull and half the load on the winch but it also gets twice the line off the drum

I recommend any buying a winch to do research.... when you don't understand your equipment and or how it likes to operate or the second you don't respect it people get killed.... When I was pulling my bud out yesterday sum***** was off to the right of the cable and I tore him a new hole.... Damn cable breaks and he would be half the man he was before

Ah I thought out winch conversation was being interpreted as a jake-attack lol

Shame on you for giving him a hard time.... It was you sneaking over and beating hammers against his lift wasnt it?
