someone with more knowledge than I, google has failed me. Will a Liberty's 8.25 fit under an XJ or is it wider than the 8.25 that came in xjs?

yeah I gain the strength of the 8.25 over my D35, disk brakes and what I am more worried about is ABS hookups. The 8.25 under xjs arent cut short enough to allow for the added width of the tone rings on the axles hence why they are all non abs. I quite enjoy my $600 a year insurance break due to the abs. Don't want to just pull the fuse. My luck I would have an accident and the insurance company not cover it because I illegally modified it or some bull ****

I'm going to be getting an 8.25 29 spline from the new guy Bane when he swaps in his 44.

Did some reading earlier today about reusing the tone rings and sensors from a D35 and making a D44 accept them but I dont know any one with a metal lathe to turn the axle to hub shoulder down enough to be able to press the rings on them.
