Bend the hard line straight.
When I installed those I had to notch the square ends a little. Jimmy knows what I'm talking about. And I took that bracket off

I know I don't really need them but I figured it wouldn't hurt, so theyll be alright even though they're not steel braided hoses?

Here is how I mounted mine. 12 gauge bare solid wire wrapped around the line through some holes. On the square end you will need to notch out on of the sides a little, this is because there is a bump on the caliper so that the factory lines only mount one way.

No that's how mine were. You shouldn't really really need them at 3".

That does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside - that little wire tie doesn't protect that hard line at all - you need to have the end of the hard line mounted solid with a bracket to keep it from rotating or twisting. Hard lines break really easy - first time you catch the soft line on something the hard line is going to snap.
