No. They keep dirt and salt in them and ruin the seals and shock pistons

also, mjtchell, who is the person I currently work with who just got an XJ.

his needs some work done. I haven't done some of this stuff, but do you think we could help him out? I'm sure he'll become more active on the forum once his Jeep is all set to go.

for some reason the shop he took it to said the NSS needed replacing. yet it starts and runs. it's just the reverse lights don't come on all the time. that's a wiring thing.

well anyway, here's the list. the shop quoted 1500 for parts and labor

Safety switch (what they said)
Muffler
Front sway bushings
Steering stabilizer
Right rear axle seal
a little work on the rear brake drums
some brake line work (forget what exactly though)
new rotors which isn't that hard

what do you guys think? i told him I would post it up since you guys are more familiar with me than him, but I'm trying to get him on here more.

though normally when that goes doesn't the jeep not start though? i thought i remember reading something on here about someone finally replacing it and can finally drive their jeep again. i mean correct me if I'm wrong. I am no expert by any means at all. though they quoted him 315 for the switch (just parts) which I think is a lot.
