SUPERPOST!!!!!
Sorry if I'm dragging this up, but I feel like I missed out.
I gave my dad a brief backstory cause he wanted to know why there were 10 pages to read after one day. He read this post and said "You aren't vultures; you're earth-bound. That makes you all hyenas."
There are no mortal enemies in the offroading community. There are, however, different forums for different types of people. Pirate is a group of crazy hardcore wheelers who don't play nicely with others. It's a running joke on every forum I've looked at: "Send 'em to Pirate."
Mike, can you get me that link sometime for those trim-to-fit bumpstops for my XJ?
I'll support IRO any chance I get. I'm really happy with my track bar, but their reputation can't be beaten, and their service over the phone is fantastic. On the website, they even have a bio with backstory and a picture of the rig of each employee in the company.
That said, I love my RE springs (but I would've been happy with anything that wasn't negatively arched). Again, they have an incredible reputation, so I'm proud to have the parts.
Rusty's also makes good springs, but I don't know how high they go. The general consensus seems to be you should only buy springs and shocks from him; nothing else.
Not trying to be a dick here, but that's what a lot of guys here were waiting for, I think. You're both definitely stubborn, and that's responsible of you to admit.
...Except me and XJnewbiegirl, and dukie, and gone, and..
In other news, I've been getting bumpsteer out the ***, and last night I had death wobble 6 times in 2 miles. I was following my friend home from the bar, and I had to stop every time I got up to speed. At first I thought it was the liquor, but I decided to blame the Jeep when it happened again on the way home this morning.

I would like to make an apology to Mike, and to the few friends I have here on cherokeeforum, on behalf of both myself and my wife, Krissy124, for the repetitive arguments that have spawned on here. Her and I are both pig-headed and stubborn as hell, and both have some maturing to do. The fights will cease as of right now.

It's definitely worth it. As much as I love flashing my high beams and trying to signal what I want to the other members of our convoys, I'm looking forward to getting a CB lol

Thanks clown, I have just been reading up and checking out rigs and putting a list together. Is it wrong that I have almost a 8.5x11 sheet filled up and my jeep is only getting state inspected today?

so apparently the bar that the tie-rod ends are connected too are the first thing that hits a rock or w.e when people are offroading. so most aftermarket tie-rod and drag link assemblys are "beefed up" (thicker piping) for that purpose.
and on some of the different brands, i was reading reviews and some people were complaining about the steering/stability on and off the road.
so i didnt know if maybe i would get an after market set up rather then just a replacment set up if it would matter with highway driving vs road off.

just to clear things up for you:
looking at your lift, I would say if you need to replace it anyways, definitely a perfect time to upgrade to a stronger setup. The tie rod especially since like you said, it's vulnerable to rock damage.
Depends what you want to do. IRO has a sweet steering setup that moves the Tie rod up to the top of the steering knuckle, but maintains the stock steering (drag link) attachment on the bottom so you don't need to mess with the track bar mounts at all. The only issue is it won't work with OEM wheels unless they're spaced out

Personally I run a stock drag link, and a Tie Rod from a ZJ grand cherokee, which is bigger, solid instead of hollow, and has stronger TREs. That's an easy cheap upgrade.
as far as streetability, the shouldn't be a negative effect if everything is setup correctly. For example, the trackbar and drag link MUST be parallel to each other, or you'll get "bump steer". Also angles that are too steep with OEM joints will ruin the joint very quickly, resulting in breakage or the dreaded "death wobble".
What's your budget for steering upgrades?

i dont have stock wheels so that set up might work. also i herd about using the zj tie rod. seems smarter. is there a certain year i should look for? i have a 96..or will any year zj tie rod work?
yeah i have terrible bump steer.. death wobble not so much, i took it up to about 65-70 and it seemed fine. i had death wobble on my wrangler and it scared the **** out of me haha.
$300 is probably pushing it for what im trying to spend right now.. i honestly just want something thats going to last, do good on the road, and see some trail.

Take some photos of your steering setup so I can see why you have an issue
