Havent really looked at the rear diff but I heard if I have abs *which I do* then I have a D35 rear... misinformation?

Dana35 is round at the bottom of diff cover, 8.25 is flat

Rear Axle

1984-1989: Dana 35, non c-clip, with anti-lock braking system (ABS) or non-ABS.
1990-1996: Dana 35, c-clip, ABS or non-ABS.
1997-2001: Dana 35, c-clip, ABS.
1991-1996: Chrysler 8.25", c-clip, non-ABS, 27-spline axleshafts.
Late 1996-2001: Chrysler 8.25", c-clip, non-ABS, 29-spline axleshafts.
1987-1990: Dana 44, non-abs, 30-spline axleshafts.

if you have ABS, you do not have a c8.25, thus you have a D35.
if you do not have ABS though, you might have either axle.

Quite, I had read that same chart that tat posted on wiki but I dont always trust what I read, so you guys just cemented what I already knew... Dueling Danas for my 2K. Much appreciated chaps!

so if I ever get another vehicle and can heavily modify the xj I think I will over engineer the drivetrain and get some rockwells

buddy of mine said I should head up to centralia pa and wheel at the abandoned land due to the coal seam fire... anybody done that? Sounds like an easy way to fall through some earth and get lit and not in a good way

alright so i know it looks like poop right now. im not too good with a stick welder obviously but its strong. i still have a lotttttt of grinding and some filling in to do...and its my first bumper. 100% scrap metal i found laying around... be gentle

And thats why I got a MIG welder. Not bad looking though. I am all for scrap builds. I am finishing up a wicked adjustable tabletop small engine stand for my jar head buddy. All out of scrap I had... and trust me, the more you practice the better your welds and skills will be. Took me forever to get my stuff to look half decent.

I have a buddy that wheels up there all of the time, trying to get up that way to check it out...
