I've pulled the HVAC box twice. It's not that hard. I've swapped it out entirely in 3.5 hours the second time. I've done the heater core replacement once. That wasn't too bad, but yes discharge your AC. Just take it to a shop and most will do it for free. What area of MD are you in? I can probably help you get it done.
Also, me being cheap finally relocated my license plate so you can see it with the tire carrier on. Probably the best free mod i've ever done. Just moved it over. So now what used to be the right screw holes are now the left screw holes, and the right holes don't do anything now. Will be adding some double sided tape to keep it from flapping.

I'm am in utter disbelief right now. The Jeep dealership is the cheapest location to evacuate my A/C @$55. Everywhere else is upwards of $200.

Have you called your local Valvoline Instant Oil Change? They'll do it for free. Jiffy Lube should as well.
Don't "just pop a line".

My Jiffy Lube does not do it. It's already at the dealership waiting to be done tomorrow. They are going to separate the evap from the lines in the engine bay for me as well. Now I need to order the heater core, evap and blower motor. I'm only doing this once. Anything else I should order while I'm at it?
p.s. I would never pop the line. That stuff is horrible for the environment.

Anyone looking for some cheap led lights for their jeep?
2 - 18w LED spot lights for $19.89 with free prime shipping.
Oh and if you guys could keep an eye out for a APN header for me, I'd appreciate it. Mine has split and cracked and isn't repairable.

Finally got another XJ.
It's a 96 Country, no rust other than spot by passenger front door, leather seats, brand new tires and other parts. Only 107K miles. Pretty happy about the find.
