Just bought a New/Unused Spectre cowl intake on ebay. Its for the renix motor but I don't think it will be difficult to adapt it to my 2001's motor.

make sure you check the filter often. One of these was on my 00 when i bought it. The filters tend to fall apart pretty easily.

Got it today, Shouldn't be to hard to use on a 4.0l. I'll keep the filter thing in mind.
I don't know if i'm just going to use it the way it is and just fit it to the 4.0l or if i'm gonna cut the tube and make it look more like the non-renix version. Either way should only take a new coupler or two.

Well, update on my 98. Not valvetrain. Haven’t torn into it just yet, but i’m thinking the #6 piston went bye bye.

update on the 00. Has been leaking oil really bad when you get in the gas so we haven’t been driving it. Got it over on the lift and pulled the oil pan. Some dumbass completely failed at doing an oil pan gasket. Also replaced the RMS. Gonna be nice to finally be able to drive it around.

also ordered some dirtbound sliders for it. Hoping to do another rausch trip soon.

The water pump on mine decided to start pouring coolant out the weep hole. Another fun day in jeep ownership.

While you have it off, check closely between cyls 3 and 4 to make sure it hasn't cracked yet. Being a 2000 unless po has changed the head you have the 0331 casting. Which cracks between those two cylinders.

For bad cracks yeah. but since you've got the head off for the head gasket you should prob have a machine shop check it.

I went to the junkyard on sunday and scored. Overland WJ Wood steering wheel and a 97+ foglight switch. Need to find a 99-01 airbag and clockspring now. LKQ doesn't sell airbags anymore.

Can't help with the clockspring but here is an air bag that I have been eyeballing on Ebay.
Been eyeballing it in case I come across just a steering wheel too.
Also going to want to some details about this.
Thinking I might do this and have poked around a bit about it but have not researched the job thoroughly yet.

Just not sure it the pricing is good or not.
