My Cherokee was my first and only car I ever had. Parents helped me by it when I turned 16 and still have it this day and I'm 21 now... I don't ever wanna get rid of it!! It's my everyday vehicle so I don't wanna do to much to it till I get a new every day driving vehicle. My buddies tell me to trade it in, and I tell them that's the dumbest thing you ever said... Anyways My jeep is pretty stock beside my Olympic 4x4 front bumber, my next up grade is lift kit, tires, make my doors removable and eventually make it a cheromanchee!!

Obviously you want to get under the jeep and check for loose parts. Grab every part you see in the driveline and shake it as hard as you can in all directions looking for looseness. Support the rear axle with jack stands and put the trans in neutral. Rotate your driveshafts and check for noises in the TC and autobox.
Fyi, to rule out a bad TCU, try shifting the trans manually using the 1-2 and 3 positions on the floor shifter. The TCU, whether working or not, will allow you to select all gears manually except drive. (This also works if the TCU is unplugged)

Fluid levels are good. I tried shifting manually with tcu plugged in I didn't wanna shift out of 1/2. I unplugged tcu and made it the 50 miles back to my house. Was a long trip up and down hills but was able to shift fine.Gonna go ahead and tear tc apart and see if thats where the sounds are coming from. Only makes sound when moving I'm gonna try putting tc in neutral and see if I hear them I'm hoping its just an electrical issue wouldnt explain sound but would make me feel better. It would into 4hi fine but didn't wanna come out back into 2wd yesterday and would take a few minutes would pop bak in pretty loud to.
