The problems you're having all sound like regular Cherokee issues.... Just hang in there. As for the sway bar causing death wobble... I doubt you experienced death wobble to be honest, but I could be wrong. It's not very common for a Stock Xj to get death wobble for any reason, but not impossible. Death wobble would damn near scare you out of ever driving the Jeep again. I used to get death wobble every time I hit a bump with only one front tire. One day while I was driving to work I hit death wobble and it finally snapped my 2 month old Timken wheel hub, snapped my trac-bar mount right off the axle, and bent my tie rod like a wet noodle. After I repaired the damage and replaced the faulty parts I was still scared beyond belief to drive my rig again. Something about losing complete control over your vehicle at any given time just scares the crap out of me. Some guys get pretty defensive when others speak about death wobble when in fact they only had a front end shimmy, so just be careful how you word some things. Nobody needs internet arguements, ya know?
If I could offer you a word of advice for modifying you Xj....... Do all or most of your power adders before a lift and tires. These motors take "tweaks" very well and are impressive when done right. If you want to feel all of that power, do it before lift and tires, otherwise power will be robbed. This is one of the things I wish I would have done differently on my rig. I'm not putting down 171rwhp and 194ft/tq but with these tires and lift it doesn't feel much like it.

Thanks for the advice regarding the lifts, any suggestions on what lift to go with?
Thanks!

Our Cherokee does have front end shimmy normally, suspension needs to be replaced. But the 'death wobble' I am referring to would occur anytime you hit a bump. The entire Jeep would shake violently and throw you about. What happened was the Sway bar snapped at the stud. My husband is the one who drives the Jeep and he could barely control the thing when he hit a bump. He had me in the vehicle once when it happened and I've never experienced any shimmy like this. You could see the cars behind us just back off it was that bad. Got that fixed real quick.

Hey and Thank you!
We bought the Jeep from a guy who has used it for a farm vehicle for years. We keep having little issues arrive but the one major issue we had that it would just die. Randomly. You let it sit and it would start up after 20 mins. Then it become known that it only did it when wet outside. So many people suggested the CSP. We eventually took it to specialty jeep guy and he suggested same thing. He replaced the part and it seemed fixed. Until all that rain and it died. We ripped the carpet up in drivers side floor to reveal a clump of wiring that had rotted through and snapped due to a rusted out hole in the flooring. Fixed the floor, spliced the wires and it all works fine now. We've had one sway bar go out and cause the 'death wobble', and so far a one rear brake line. We also have some bad sagging in the rear, but we don't wanna replace everything until we get a lift.
We are working on a budget but we really wanna get her off road ready cause we are itching to head out and give it a go.
Sorry for the long post!
