i wanna go up to rausch but i need to replace my front u joints and i cant get the hub assembly off, bolts are rusted and seized.
anyone wanna help? lol

 

Hey, I just went through that with mine. The bolts on the hub assembly haven't been touched proabably since 1988 when the factory put them in. Anyway, I used a whole can for PB blaster, then used a little propane torch, heated it good, and after the initial break, they came out real easy. Got to hate those star bolts, though, as if bolts don't strip enough as is. Good Luck

 

hold a 12pt 13mm wrench on the hub bolt head, loosen it about 1/4", then beat the wrench with a 5lb sledge, so you don't round off the head.
You can hit the side 2, but not the top. Should be able to work the sides enough to get it to pop out.
You don't need to do the axle nut to change universals, just leave the hub on the stub shaft.

 

thanks man. one of the bolts is stripped like crazy. i used my 12pt socket on it and its broke the socket haha need to get an impact 12pt socket. i used about 3/4 of a can on it and still nothing. i will keep spraying it this week and maybe this weekend go at it again with a torch my buddy has. hopefully the u joint doesnt break before then.

this is the write up i was following to change mine. didnt get too far since i cant get the hub assembly to budge.

 

I did a pair of these on my old man's cherokee just this past weekend, 2 hours to do both sides.
That's a decent write up, but I disagree with the whole "use the power steering to pop the hub out" it just doesn't work.
Also, if that's what other people are using, I see why so many pull the unit bearing off the stub when you don't really have to.
Where are you stuck? If one of the 12 point bolts is rounded off, just cut the head off it. Just try not to cut the knuckle. The bolts are like $3 at the dealership. Before you cut though, try to hammer a 1/2" 12 point socket onto it. A little smaller than a 13mm, but might still fit.
If you do cut the head off a 12 point-er, you might end up wanting a slide hammer to pull the bearing.

im stuck at getting the hub assembly off. the 12pt bolts will not budge, at all. i broke my 12pt socket on one of them and now it is rounded off like crazy. i tried to hammer a 6pt 1/2 on but i pops off when i put my ratchet on it and try to turn it

i have a problem with my nss, put the key in and put it in neutral, then try and start it. mine started right up and i havent had a problem since and that was about 2 months ago

 

nothing and i tried it in N with nothing, then tried everyother gear for ****s and giggles. no result. and the starter tested good. doesnt even try
