Just finished my sye. Pre lubed all shafts and bearings with dex/mer III. But I'm not sure if I should fill up with same fluid or use gear oil? And how much of it?

Lol. Is it an "upgrade" if used gear oil instead? I don't know if we r supposed to do that though. When I drained the fluid out, it was thick black oil and I had to clean the oil pump filter. There was so much aluminum shavings inside. Wow.

I had a 231 that I swapped in a customer vehicle that had a stretched chain. Had gear oil in it, that is good enough reason for me to not try it haha

Yeah I was thinking of sticking a threaded fitting in there and use hardening epoxy and try to repair it.

So u are saying not to use gear oil in it? Dex/mer better?

Anyone interested in the rear section of a Comanche cab? The bulkhead and rear window is included, but not the plastic vent pieces. be a perfect part for a chopped XJ. I'd like to get it out of the way before the snow comes.
