Mount the spare to the hatch and reinforce the hell out of it. Haven't worked that part out but I know it's do-able. This will require a lot of fab work.

Then buy new super heavy duty hatch struts. Ones that could lift the weight of the spare on the hatch.

Theoretically it would work. Anybody ever heard of someone doing this?

I don't like the look of a spare on the roof rack, and I'm too cheap to buy a tire swing bumper. I just want the spare out of the cab.
I think it would be cheaper to build a swing out....

Default Spare tire

Remove the gas tank, it's the perfect place to mount the spare.

Too much work. It'd be easier to mod a swing from a bronco 2 or blazer.

I would still say swing out bumper. ... build one, or buy a bumper you like and build the swing out. you do know a guy with a shop and welders.
