A smart person does not rebuild/replace something without first doing simple diagnostics.... Check for voltage at lights first, if you have voltage then most likely it's your bulbs or wiring is corroded inside the housing. If not voltage, go to switch and check if you're getting supply voltage first, if yes, see if any is coming out when you go the switch on, if no, suspect bad switch. If you're not getting supply power to the switch, suspect fuse or wiring.

His jeep is not yours..... You don't know it's the switch for sure, he needs to do some simple testing first.

If the plastic isn't melted that bad you can still use it. Most write ups tell you just to take the one light bulb out of the switch cause it produces too much heat.
