..Reidsville, NC and surrounding counties..
Hello, I have been looking for some follow off roaders close by me to get with to a little off roading. I don't know of any places around here close to do any riding at. If you know of any please let me know. I am just looking for something close by. Once I get a few more things done to my Jeep I will be trying to get with a few people to go to Uwharrie. If you live around Reidsville or close by, hit me up. Thank you

hey xjtrailrider, Reidsville is north of Greensboro. Thank you for the reply. So, you live in Roanoke I see. My wife is from Christiansburg, and has some family that lives north of Oriskany and work in Roanoke. Is there a lot of places to go off roading where you are?

Yep, the best public trail in VA is Potts Mountain Jeep Trail, which is in the Barbours Creek section of Craig County/Alleghany County, very close to your family in Oriskany.
Our local club, SWVA4W takes care of that trail and lobbies the FS to keep it open(very difficult these days with people abusing the trail). We have members that live as far south as southern Franklin County/northern Henry County VA and one member in the triad.
Our SWVA4W site is down right now due to power outages from the recent storms.
If your up in this area on a Sat/Sunday I would be glad to guide you through the trail. You need/I recommend the following;
Gas tank and T-case skids
Rocker protection
Recovery points F/R
Aggressive 31" tires or bigger
It helps to have a front or a rear locker(or both)
Fire extinguisher
Full size spare
Basic tools and spare parts that are known to break on your rig
Plenty of food and water
The trail takes about 4 hours to run without stopping, 6 hour with a lunch break and a stop at the overlook, 8 hours if we have to do a lot of rock stacking to get you over the bigger rocks. I have seen this trail ride turn into 14 hour wrench/winch fests if things go terribly wrong!
You will be in 4-low the whole day. I can guarantee body damage.
PM me at least a couple of weeks ahead to make sure I'm free, I coach youth sports(Football/Lacrosse) and I'm often tied up on Saturdays, I'm also a avid fisherman so I might have a river trip planned.

xjtrailrider, not sure if I want to go if you are guaranteeing body damage. My Jeep's body is in good condition and I would like to keep it that way if I can. Thank you for the reply and the invite.

No problem, check out the central VA and northern VA threads and see when they are going to Shoe Creek. Its stock friendly, the worse you will get up there is some "redneck pin-stripping". That will buff out.

Hey Sno Blynd, have you been or did you pick up someone at RCC? If so we have already met. I talked to you about your jeep and the lift that you had on it. It was about a year ago. I had not bought my Jeep yet. I was looking at your pics and the air horns on the front is what caught my attention.
