Replacing a ax15 with a ax15. I've had my jeep for 5 or 6 years and never had 4th gear.
A buddy and me have a 89 parts jeep if your needing anything. Possibly cheap maybe free.
It's still mostly intact interior wise
And theres parts and pieces floating around from the last parts jeep

That’s mighty fine yard art you got there. I have been getting pretty lucky at the local junk yards lately but there are still some parts I’ve yet to find, mostly my front bumper and a clip on the cruise control I broke... I’ll hit you up sometime and I’d definitely pay. Sometimes the earlier ones are hard to find round here.

When I get home I’ll send you a pic of the part, it’s not on the column but in the engine bay next to the throttle. Tiny clip that holds (what I think ) is a second throttle cable??? The picture will clarify more or make me seem like an idiot, one or the other. I used to live at the Nampa jalopy when I had my 82 camaro z. Ive been to the GC and Boise ones(that’s where I got my gauge cluster with tach) but anything they had there was thoroughly picked from.

When I broke it the hopeful side of me assumed it was connected to cc but that’s not based on anything except the idle is fine and my throttle is working.

Good to know I might just not worry about it for awhile In that case. I never noticed a difference after I broke it and I never use cruise if that is what it’s to.

Whoever decided that 12 pt 8 mm bolts were a good idea on the calipers of this Jeep is an a$$ and surprised me. Just got done doing the pads. I am definitely going to be redoing the calipers/rotors/brake lines on the next go round.
I sprayed some pb blaster on the shock bolts as well as I think that will be my next major purchase. Debating on doing them myself or not. Also she is pretty dirty from my last outing.
Edit: I am going to do the shocks, looks pretty easy

Today I bought some KYB monomaxs so that might be my project this weekend. I’m excited to see how how much of a difference it will make and nervous of how much I’m going to feel every bump( I’ve been getting used to the extremely spongy suspension). I’m also having a problem with it not starting now that it’s starting to heat up here. Mostly after it’s ran for awhile. Will start but chug below 500 rpm and if I wait a little and crank it a bit it will jump back to life and run just fine... so I might be chasing that instead this weekend, haven’t solidified a plan yet.

Great choice in shocks! I've been running KYB's on my various vehicles for 20+ years. Never had a failure. Have a set of Excel-G's on our Blazer as we speak. I had a set of Monomax on my XJ for 6-7yrs until I lifted it 2 1/2yrs ago. Gave them to my neighbor for his daughter's XJ. They give a firm but comfortable ride. You should be satisfied with them for the way you use your XJ.
Your starting/idling issue could be a need to service the throttle body and IAC (idle air control).

I just cleaned out my iac and throttle body recently so I’m not sure it’s that unless it’s a failure of one but when it starts up first thing in the morning in the cold it has no problems.
