I probably going to see about getting the rockerpanels fixed this weekend if can. I may even look into the door bezel switch out and see how they are. I do all my expirmenting at the junk yard, like the mirrors. So I'll take out the door interor and swap it out of a 96-below and see how it works out. The one thing that bothers me is that bar that runs down the driver and passager side window. the thing about that is I may have to replace the door or window for that. If I decided to get rid of it.

Hatch Hing add on
This is what you'll need to add on the hatch.
There are 2 star bolts on the inside of the hatch. This will give you the ability for the new hatch to open and close. So you'll have to cut a small box shape out of the new hatch. Use your current hatch for a refrence as the new hatch is going to have to use the same open close methood.
Also good news I'm getting the rockerpanels fixed soon. the bad news is probably next month or after next.
For the people that are looking at the door interor swap out, I may go to the JY this weekend and check it out.
Almost finished.
Window Tinted
Door internor
centerconsol
Finished or have waiting.
97-01 Hatch
97-01 Taillights
RockerPanels
HeaderPanel
Back endcap bumbers
Front Endcap bumbers

Looking pretty good. Personally I like my old style dash and interior. The only thing I dont like is no cupholders in the old one. I thought about trying to do a ZJ center console but I just like the look of mine so much. I hear the door panels are a pain unless you just change the whole door (plus the new doors eliminated the vent windows). Are you going to swap out the dash?

No I like my dash better than the new one. easier to clean and its just 2 sets instead of 4. In mine its the dash and the glovebox, the new one is 4 the driver side dash, witch is a vent, the speedmonitors, the middle air vent radio, cooling controls and then the glovebox. I'm going to see this weekend how the door bezels work in an older cherokee at the JY.
And you can buy a factory cup holder Heres the inside of mine. looks brand new on the inside. And theres the factory cupholder

New Photos and door interor add on.
Well I went to the JY today and got both back passager door interor
All the driver/driver passager door interor were either riped out for its buttons and was completed damage or the door was completey gone or the door interor was gone. And also have to find the Black charcole color ones to match. So I got the 2 back ones for $10 each.
The orginal interor
My new interor
Either going to paint the roller or buy black ones. May buy as paint will ware off.
Even has the Power Window button if I ever get around to adding that.
The hardest part was reinstalling the Lock and Door opener arm back on inside the door.
The handle bolts are a hair higher and had to drill new holes. Had to drill hole where the roller is.

My one front passager tire got a flat, So I went and got 4 brand new tires for my RIMs.
The other good news is I found a Blue Jeep Cherokee with an engine problem But going to check it out tomorrow. Its in very good shape the guy that worked on it at the shop, and told me that it was for sale.
Its a Blue Jeep Cherokee Sport
Its been sitting for a good year and hoping to get it for $400-$600
Its either a 1999-2000 or a 2001. By the short roof rack. This will be a great work project. and a good summer vehicle and my Red Cherokee can be my winter.
I don't know what the engine problem is but the guy told me he towed it to the owners place and thats where its been sitting ever since.
Went down to look at the Blue Cherokee and its in very good shape and no rusted rockerpanels, No one was there, So I'll see tomorrow.

Going to the JY tomorrow to find the front doors interor. I probably walt add the middle console as I'd have to move the emeragcy brake and move it over, But It will work and fit If really wanting to. And may not do the Dash replacement as It probaby be too much work with all the wiring and venting and wouldn't want to mess up the vehicle gauges
But it can probably be done. Everything from the header Panel to the rear hatch to the doors/vehicle interor. So really if you want a 1980s Poineer style Cherokee, you can do it, or if you want a 90s-96, or for me a 97-01 it can be done with alittle work.
Heres a link to it.

But if theres a psot on here of anyone doing the dash post the link on here. I found the middle console link.

Well I went to the JY today and no luck finding any 97-01s just 80s-96 Cherokees. Went to get the hing off a 96 Classic and the hing is one PCS. Can't remove the pin. So I walt have to buy them. Just unscrew the 2 star screws on the inside of the door on both hinges and the door will come off. Be careful not to let it fall down or your wires will rip out along with the windsheild wiper hose on the other end of the door. So I'll have to measure where to cut the small openings for the hinges to go on the 97-01 door.
Does anyone have a junk 97-01 Cherokee with the front driver and passagener door panels. Charcole Black? Must not be cracked or damaged.

Havn't done any updates to this lately due to my Jeeps Sensor Throttle Position switch going bad.
So my new updates:
New Throttle Sensor, New Battery, New Alternator and a new heat sensor.
Going on another fieldtripe to the JY, Going to get the 97-01 middle consol I guess. "Black" and the 01 steering wheel.
I may even get the entire dash is anyone can answer this question. Will the Guage cluster work with the 96 plug-in? If so then the dash project will work. If Not I may check the size of the middle accessories dash Frame bezel where the radio and temp guages are at. I here the middle consle has a gap up front and this may fill it in. And I would like my cooling vents up higher anyway insted of where it is now. Where the temp guages are in image.
Also does anyone have the black door panels for sale? Both front driver and passager?

Well the middle dash accessory will not fit. well it will but would have to cut off the dash bezel that goes around the radio/ steering wheel and push it in and ajust the radio, temps and vent. couldn't get steering wheel off. got the 1 nut off but the steering wheel still stuck on, probably need a hammer to knok it off.
Goodys I got today.
Bottom of 97-01 cig lighter plugs "above consle". 97+ diagnostics adapter "below driver dash", 2 black rollers for my back doors, lether style hand grip "center gear shift" and the 99-01 roof-rack brackets.
So I may not change the center console.
Just need to get the steering wheel and the 2 front door panels "Black" and my project should be done.
Before I forget, I got some updates for the back hatch. Just cutted the openings for the roof hinges to fit on and just have to screw it on and get the bottom door holder that keeps it closed. I have to ajust my struts on the door tho. I have to take off my older taillights BC there too wide and get the new ones ready.

you will need to get a puller for the steering wheel I have ran into this a few times. I have actually bent a steering wheel tring to get it off. The nut seems to be there just to pull the wheel into the axle which is wedged. so avoid useing a hammer just get a puller and it will come right off. Keep going looks like a great project

Its no big deal right now, the JY has lots of 98-01s yours probably has the same style steering wheel im wanting to get. I got the computer diagnostics adapter from under the driver dash and have to hook it up to my other one. All the auto Part stores/guarges "PepBoys and Such" discontinued using the older diagnostics machine atleast in PA as I know. All cars and trucks started using the new adapter in 1997.

As far as I know Obd1(pre 96) did not have a port to plug a reader into, it used blinking check engine light to tell you what was wrong ie. two long one short would be a crank sensor(not correct but you get the idea). Now obd2(96+) uses a obd2 port that scanners read off of. With all that said I do not believe you can simply plug an obd2 port into a pre 96. I would think you would need the computer(ECM PCM ect) whatever they are called in jeep out of a 96+ to use obd2.
