Latest update for 2011
This image was taken by my cellphone, and when looking at this picture, Im amazed of how new looking it looks. I cleaned this the day of this picture and also cleaned the bottom along with the under area plastic where the tires are.
Plans for the summer:
send in to fix the rocker panels and iner rockerpanels
Tint windows
Install factory fog lights
Install factory 2001 roof rack bars
Find 2 more Jeep logo center caps for rims
Far Later Plans:
Send in for a new repaint job "Same color"

Does anyone have any pics of their stock or left alone front of their fog lights from the front up close to the fog light and behind under the bumber of the lights. Mainly found on the Classic cherokee/Limited models. My endcaps I bought had the closed plastic cover where the lights go and I cut them out to install my factory fog lights witch really just had to fold them back and forth to snap off like how plastic model pcs are like. And these were not cheap. $45+ for factory Cherokee fog lights on ebay. These are my current plans for now, Install Factory fog lights, Install 01 roof racks, call guy about to let him know im ready to send in for repair of rockerpanels.

In this photo I show what Im going to paint or really have the guy do. I want to paint the silver strip above the doors the same red color. The roof rack that is silver I want to paint it black with a sandpaper like texture. And the silver around the windsheild I would like to put the 97-01 rubber seal in and take out the boring silver metal.
I was viewing some posts on here and notice that the 97-01 uses almost the same hardware as the 93-98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Witch is also were I got my CHEROKEE LAREDO lettering from since they didn't make any Laredos in 97-01
All the 97-01 XJ Cherokees I found at the JY anyway had the sticker lettering on them and not the 3D lettering like mine is in the image above. The 3M Emblem glue works very well, stuck on all winter. The 00-01 also uses the 93-98 ZJ roofrack.

I also did alittle info search on the hatch replacement on the back for 84-96 users. You don't have to buy the hinges at all for the 97-01 hatch. all you do is remove the 2, or counting all 4 star bolt screws from the inside and the door will come off. The hinges are bolted to the roof of the cherokee, so all you have to do is line it up and drill the new holes for it on the other hatch. Much like swaping out a normal house door for a new one.

Just wanted to say much respect to you for all the hard work, youre doing what i wish i could do to my 91 laredo. I just got everything i need to swap the front clip. I don't have 97+ fenders though, is the difference in body lines terribly noticable? Also, do the 97+ door panels fit on the stock doors with no modification? Haha, sorry to bomb you with so many questions. Great work!

Look on this post for an image of the Header Panel with the fenders and the back panels almost lineup but the handle screws are a hair low. The front you have to make a new hole for the handles to fit in. the door open leaver on the 01 is where arm handle is on the 91. So you have to make a opening for it to fit. I also just removed the lock/open arms from the 01 to make it easy to install that way I don't have too cut the ones I had in it. Or you could get 01 doors, but didn't feel like going through all that. They will work on 91s aswell but need diffrent hinges. The hinges are n shape and mine is I shape.

I agree, the door panels are a pain. I spent a good 3 months on my last XJ to convert the "inside" from a 93 to a 2001. I sure won't do that again. I found changing the entire door was much less work on my part. It's what I am planning for my current White '93. Mainly because it's how I distinguish the difference between older XJ's and the 2001+ The wing window gives it away. I really like the looks of a full window.
I'm enjoying your build. I'm learning to not look forward to switching out my back hatch.

So Im wanting to get rid of the bar running down the front door windows, In this image this is a 1990-1996 Cherokee door with the metal strip removed. Now will the 97-01 glass fit right in place where the other glass was? I found some glass windows on ebay for 97-01 that has 2 holes for the window to run up and down.
It would be easier to change my doors out with 01 doors but I'd have to get the other hinges Plus paint the doors and put my CHEROKEE logo back on them, and the driver side door has my Jeep Manufactuer date and other information on it.

here's mine from my 88 cherokee before I lifted it
Also, how hard was it to put on a 97+ front header onto your 91? I'm dying to put one on my 88 I love the way the newer ones look compared to the old ones. Thanks!

I was looking for the 2001 close up images. Heres a link I just found.
http://hondaswap.com/gallery/data/50...c-BIG_copy.jpg
And no it wasn't hard to install the Header Panel of a 97-01 on my 91. Just open the hood and remove the can't remember but I think theirs 4 nuts holding from under the hood and the ones behind each headlight. The fenders my look alittle diffrent but can't tell unless really looking close at it. I was thinking of getting 97-01 fenders to make it look better. Theres images on my account and on this post. The diffrents between the 84-96 fenders to the 97-01 is the 84-96 has a angle bend to it and the 97-01 was made complete round.
My next big project is wanting to know if the cluster will work in my 91 from out of a 97-01, from this guys post It looks like he took an entire 2001 dashboard and steeringwheel "like what im wanting to do in mine" and installed it in his 1989 Jeep Cherokee. If the cluster works then I might try this and be a 100% make over to the 2001. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/op...s-build-78697/ This will also show you the 01 fenders on the older Cherokees.
