1996 XJ Clean DD Build
#31
finally got some badges off Facebook marketplace to clean up the Jeep. Although I’m not sure how to put on the Jeep emblem for the front because my header panel thing doesn’t have holes for those studs to go through, maybe these are for a different year? Maybe I could dremel the studs off and just use emblem adhesive.

They might not even be for the header also. Any chance you could drill some holes. On my '00 they are all stick ons. I am toying with the idea of bedlining my Jeep. I want to but also don't want to cause while not perfect my Jeep is in pretty good shape. And pretty much stock. Thing is if it had emblems that were that way I could put them back on the Jeep after bedlining. I like the emblems on my black Jeep. They are a brushed/satin finish of sorts. Not chrome. Which I like. I wonder how well double sided tape would work on bedliner for the emblems.

Sorry for the lack of posts. Work on the jeep has been slow, I've been working and saving up money. I had some free time so I tried to pull the wheels off to clean and paint them but some lug nuts started rounding... ... so I stopped and picked up some HF bolt extractor socket things but haven't tried it yet. The plan is to get the rest of the floors welded next weekend, I'll post back then if not before.

A bit overdue for an update. Got the floors completely welded up just need to be painted, sealed and painted again then the interior can finnnaallllyyyy go back in and if all goes well the Jeep will be on daily duty. I’ve also got to drop the fuel tank as there’s some rusting in the cargo area from the bottom so any tips or advice on that is appreciated.

Also if it helps anybody the HF bolt extractor didn’t work I had to hammer a deep socket on and with a breaker bar all the lug nuts came off, nearly destroyed but off

I’m heading to Texas for a week and a half then I’ll be back to work on the Jeep. I’ve got a temp sensor coming and I’ve got to drop the fuel tank.

With a flathead screwdriver some wire cutters and a hammer you can remove the caps from your lug nuts . Simply punch a hole in the middle clip it a little and separate the cap from the lug nut

I keep forgetting to post here, but I have started making progress in the last few weeks, very very slow progress but progress. cleaned up the garage, hung some signs, done some sanding on the jeep floors, found another rot hole under some seam sealer , broke the studs for the fender flares, possibly getting some parts from a local part out. I'll dumb some pictures below.

But the '97 and up ones can be repaired pretty cheap and easy.
My way is at Post #7.
Now will this work on '96 and down?
Never having seen one up close and personal not a clue. LOL.

Thinking they are close enough that you can do the same with them.
I don't know how the fender liners are set up on a '96 but the on a '00
the place the stud comes through is pretty big.
Why you use the big washer with the small hole there.
The problem with trying to get them out of the boneyard is that most likely
you are going to snap a stud or 2, at least, on them.
And for '97 and up new ones are priced crazy.
I think you could spend at least $100 just for the brackets
for all 4 corners.
