2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ Build
Hello, this is a forum where I’m going to keep track of everything I’m doing or plan on doing to my first car, a 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ. I will update this when I do more things to it, and I’ve owned it for 6 months.
Bought March 1st, 2024
$4000
-197k Miles
-AW4
-4.0
- 3” Lift
-Some Chinese AT’s
- Matte Black Fuels
- EAG Front and Rear Bumbers
-Pioneer Radio
In terms of condition, it wasn’t too bad…
-No A/C
-Bad Alignment
-Poor Brakes
-Ripped Headliner
-Surface Rust Underneath
And obviously other upkeep like fluids and such…
Next, got all the alignment issues sorted out, and replaced all fluids.
Threw a Chrome Bullet Atenna on there, purely cosmetic.
Until May, I had done really nothing to it except replace some relay’s, and replace the O2 sensor because it caused some issues.
This is the condition the headliner was in, stained, ripped and droopy.
Later that month, I replaced the headliner and speaker system, and added a new subwoofer (i don’t remember what I got now)
The plan was to replace the A/C during the summer, as the A/C blew, but not cold because it had a screwed up evaporator. However, replacing it was shelved because the summer was very busy.
In July, I replaced the fuel line because of a pretty significant leak.
Replaced the Halogens with LED’s like 2 weeks ago
Replaced the Tailgate Supports Last Week
SOON:
-Double Din Dash Kit and New Radio
-New Radiator Cooling Fan
Still not sure where I want to go with this car. Between doing suspension and making it super off-road capable or making it a street car and even thinking about dropping an LS or 4.6 in it.

Looks good! Not sure what your plan with the rust is but fluid film is amazing. It stops stuff from rusting and stops old rust from spreading.
