Aside from the $$ why not buy the replacement floor pans

 

I'm using heavier gauge metal so it should last longer then that stock crap. Plus I enjoy building it myself instead of just buying a stock part and slapping it on.


Put in the floor around in the back passenger corner and got that section all finished up.


Found an MJ on craigslist last night for $600 that I'm going to try and pick up and once this floor gets done I can start building that. Fingers crossed that the deal holds up.

I wasn't sure what to do about the filler lines cause I didn't want to just leave them exposed to the elements. So I build a little box to cover them all up.

Then decided to do a little trail run.

 

I got tired of hitting my tires on my fenders so I chopped another two inches out of them. Hopefully they will clear now.

 

700 bucks including gas and whatnot for my brother to pick it up. No paper work. Basically was abandoned on this guys property for the past 15 years and hasn't really moved. He says it will start up but doesn't run great. Basically needs a solid tune up and some odds and ends. New project time when i finished this round on my jeep.

 

wow hows the under side look? Parked on grass/dirt for that long......may be funky no?

 

Its been in Colorado that whole time so nothing serious. I'm hoping I can get it titled as an abandoned vehicle title because parting it out will break my heart.

Snorkel

 

I have been slacking about posting on my build. Been putting most everything in the fab section. So here are a handful of updates.





I've got another fresh one up on the docket. Honestly, this one will work for maybe 5% of the community but it came in pretty handy for me so I figured I may as well post it.

I needed a speaker solution for when I have my doors off that was reasonable and out of the way of everything. This way the speakers wont be getting full of mud or water either.

Start with something like this



Then get some hardware





Checking placement of the buckles



Measure angle Iron and cut two pieces. (7 Inches each)



Put together for drilling

After all the holes are finished



Check placement again then mark for cuts and holes in the fiberglass



Cut and drill

After everything is put back together.



Mounted. tied in on both ends with cable ties. The center buckles twist to adjust the overall length so that it will fit basically any cage now.



And I was running out of daylight but here is what it looks like installed.


I put in new speakers and then put the original grills back on so that it looked semi decent and would protect the speakers a little better. Honestly, there is nothing special or pretty about this but it works and now I have some sound when the doors are off. I know this probably won't work on most peoples jeeps but I figured I would post it anyway just for fun. Enjoy and comment away....
