99 Black XJ Sport MN
Hey guys! I'm creating a build thread today because I have so many big plans for this vehicle. Let me give you a little background. This Cherokee was brought into my fathers dealership with a severe motor problem. He diagnosed it with a warped head, bad rings, cam bearings, and one bad piston. At 105,000 miles with a next to flawless body and barely any rust my dad could not let it go. Being in the automotive business for 38 years my dad rescued this beauty and began repairing it keeping me up to date with all that he was doing. He had a shop straighten the head, ordered some new rings, cam bearings, one piston, a fuel pump, thermostat and hoses, new front brake rotors and pads. After all of that along with some new fluids she runs like a CHAMP. Now for the cost,
Original blown motor Jeep = 400$
Head straightening = 200$
Misc parts and supply's = 500$
Estimated KBB value = 5000-5500$
Dads asking price for me = 2000$
NO way I'm passing it up.
So here's how she sits today after some flat black engine enamel on the wheels and a dealership wax job
There is so much i would like to do to this but MONEY is going to be short. I will update you though if i do anything. Thanks for viewing my thread.

First thing i did when i got this is paint the wheels with 3 coats of flat black high heat engine enamel because the steelies were in rough shape...
So i decided to install an aftermarket CD player, an amp and 1 12" Rockford Punch in a bandpass box just for my enjoyment while driving.
This is where i ran the power wire through the firewall. there's a smaller grommet on the left side with enough room for a power wire so i just fished it though with a hanger, it came out right near the fusebox.
after being in the engine compartment doing the wiring I noticed it was pretty dirty so I bought some Gunk degreaser and sprayed away the years of buildup not exactly sparkling clean but a lot better
Also went to the local O'Reillys picked up a can of undercoating for a few bucks and started spraying, might have to do some more before the winter time, I do live in MN remember.
Did the Transmission pan gasket and filter because it was leaking.

I believe Exhaust and intake are next, need to start doing stuff that will help my MPG's before i lift it and put bigger tires on it. Also the fuel injectors if i can find them on the cheap.

Thinking 3" lift with 31" Duratracs being this is my daily driver. Also would love to fab steel bumpers myself and a roof rack and put the spare up top with some lighting and accessories. From there i have no idea but i plan to keep it very cleanly built and try to make it last as long as possible. When i hit the 150k+ mile mark I may start to play a bit more with raising the lift and bigger tires and trimming and such but for now I'm basically doing preventative maintenance and fixing problems.

I'm finding little things to replace here and there like this steering stabilizer...
There was no resistance at all left in this one so went to the auto parts store and grabbed a new one.
Also the fuel pump was replaced but was not tightened down enough, figured that out when i filled it one day there was a few drips coming down off the tank, So my dad brought the specialty tools home and we tightened it.

Needs new tires before winter so i might try to find some used ones off Craigslist just to get me through it. I don't have enough funds to get the Duratracs yet but i will be ordering an exhaust, Cragar soft 8's, and lift in that order.... stay tuned.

Ended up settling for 235/75/15 wrangler radials. I don't have the funds to lift it and buy the 31's yet and i needed tires bad. Also i replaced the hatch struts and i have a Putco wiring harness and housings on the way for better lighting. Pics to come.

Sooooo... I received my Autopal housings today. Picked up the box and all i heard was the sound of broken glass. Turns out the people who work for the USPS like to play soccer with peoples fragile ****. One housing is fine but one was completely shattered. Contacted the guy through Amazon and hes shipping me a new one thankfully though.
