Yes. A bumper + winch will serve me much better. I want to get out more often, and if that involves going alone, then I certainly need the equipment to be prepared for the worse. Unfortunately, an RTT won't get me unstuck. I'll miss it as it was so comfortable and convenient, but i'm in my early 20s so I can rough it for a few more years. Hopefully by then i'll have AT-type trailer set-up and I can through an RTT on there.

I feel you man. A bumper and winch are on my list...just farther down than next, unfortunately. Senior in college, early 20's, little money...that's my life. I love the trailer idea though. Maybe when I graduate and get a full-time salaried job and a gas-sipper DD, I'll be able to head that direction as well! What bumper are you looking at?
Correct. I've heard it's a relatively easy trail and you don't even need to be lifted to tackle it.

Changed the oil, and snapped a few.

What's your spring set up at the moment, and what are your hub to flare measurements? I'm thinking about 934 ZJ coils because they're a little stiffer than stock, but I'm curious which ones you have as well as leafs/shackle, and how much lift you're sitting on.

Leaf spring set-up? OME Light Duty Leaf Springs with OME D22-XL AALs.
Coils? OME Light Duty Coils, coupled with OME 10mm coil spacer.
Shackle? Stock.
Current lift measurements from Hub-to-Flare?
Front: 19.5" Stock: 17.5"
Rear: 20" Stock: 17"
A good response from a member on ExPo that I received about OME suspension and their set-up:
First I want to say I really like your XJ. That white front end with the black grill is my favorite. I read a few pages back about your future switch to 31's using OME ZJ coils and ACOS spacers, and I think that might be a bit high. I have the OME934 ZJ coils in my MJ with a 2" spacer and clear 33x10.50s. A buddy of mine has the same setup in the front in an XJ and the OME HD leaf pack in the rear and the rear sits lower by about an inch and a half. I'd say if you used the ZJ coils and the XJ OME HD leaf pack it would be just right for 31's. I don't know if you've done this, if you haven't you should, V8 ZJ tie rod. Easy 10 minute upgrade and definitely worth it out on the trail.
I am on a similar boat as you when it comes to the ARB bullbar and the winch, I found a bullbar on CL a few months ago, and I've trying to find a used M8000 to put in it. I will post two pics, one of my MJ on 33x10.50s, and one of my friends XJ on 255/75-17 KM1s(32"), should give you some ideas and motivation towards the bullbar, he decided to be cheap and bought a reproduction bullbar and for some reason it just doesn't look right to me. Maybe when kc0tma gets another XJ we can go do some exploring of the northwest.

Thanks for the quote from that other guy. I'm on 245/75/16 (30.5") right now, so I think it'll be perfect!

Awesome, thanks! I'm thinking the ZJ coils will work for me. I have a heavier front bumper, and I want to be right around 3", so from what I've read, they should be good. I was just curious about what you had because that's basically what I want, except plus +1"

Within' the last month, I have decided to sell my previously use set-up that supported my XJ (Yakima), in order to pick up a much more sophisticated full-length roof rack built by my good friend Nikson. Nikson used this full-length roof rack originally to support his CVT Mt. Rainer on his XJ he had. At the end of the summer, Nik sold his XJ and after admiring his full-length roof rack, it had to be mine! I picked up the full-length roof rack from Nik a few weeks ago, and now that Fall Term is done with this semester, I was able to have some more times on my hands and finally got it mocked up and put on. Here are some pictures:

Now since this roof rack was originally to support the much larger Mt. Rainer RTT, there is some unused spaced in the end. My intentions with this space is to utilize it to support Jerry Can Gas Can(s), water can(s) and potential space for more gear to go up top.

There is also a readily mount available for awning, as shown in picture number 3. This is an awesome upgrade from the two Yakima bars I used this previous summer!

Just read every page on your build. Your XJ is so clean! Mine stays clean for less than 12 hours usually, once I drive it down the gravel roads it is all over. No lift for me yet, still gathering ideas on what exactly I want..

I'm up in the Hillsboro area. Closest I have come to off road is my dad's driveway, the road is badly washed out, 2wd cars have fun getting down that driveway. As far as suspension, I am still contemplating between 3" or 4.5" lift. I don't wanna buy cheap and replace parts often so quality is a must. Then I have to start saving up for the build once I determine it's cost.
