I made a sweet trade with a buddy for these cragar soft 8's and gave him a drive shaft I couldn't use. I wire wheeled them a few weeks ago and painted them. However, no one like the color SO, I had to repaint them again. All good now.
I finally got her put back together. I installed a new adjustable track bar, new drag link, core 4x4 tier two uppers and the new coils, and bar pin eliminators. She had been on jacks for almost a month while I was messing with this and that. I'll be setting the toe in this morning. I also needed to pull it out to have room for all the other stuff I have been painting in the garage.
Im glad i caught the beginning of your build where you mentioned putting on Upcountry springs as well as 1" shackles, and ended up with close to 4" for a while! thats what i was thinking of doing but was afraid of the 4 inches.
Also, youre right, ive never seen an XJ that color before.
So much going on the last few weeks, it's hard to keep up the build thread. First off: I got the Wheels installed last week, or week before? It's all been a whirl.
I sprung a leak on my short hose to the lower input of the heater core. Decided to scrap the whole assembly and run it straight in minus the T flush kit.
A quick comparison between the IRO rock link that is fairly new and my 20 year old refurbished Skyjacker Rock ready. Kind of a drop bracket/mid arm 4 link kit.
I like the setup. Having to remove my long arm kit soon to drop my TC did you have to keep the axle from moving foward or jack it up when removing your long arms?
If I keep Jeep on the ground but remove the crossmember I would think the weight would push the axle foward maybe? Assuming when dropping the TC cross member and long arms you would want to take load off front wheels correct? I know might sound stupid but just wanted to make sure. This way when I go to put it all back on it will line back up correctly and won't have to mess around getting it to ling up.
1# I highly recommend not puting a transfer case drop on a long arm kit! All the twist load goes on the bolt that hold up your cross member.
#2 the rocky ready kit I installed I was able to install this thing one side at a time and only had a jack on the bumper to take some of the weight off the control arms.

I'm not dropping the TC to put a drop kit in. I'm dropping my TC to repair stretched chain and while I'm at it I will replace my TC mount too that a member here was so kind to make for me. I just want to make sure that I do the least bit possible when pulling my TC out. I think no matter how I look at it since my entire crossmember is coming off I will need to jack Jeep back up on stands to get axle off the load. Otherwise when I go to put crossmember back on the axle will have shifted and possible it will not line up.
