I had picked up a new Walker front pipe but it's clearance was worse then the old one, so I decided to keep the old one.

Definitely would hit the long arm

3 pie cuts later and it clears... Not the prettiest but it will do for now until I make a proper one.

Also found a drive shaft out of a grand Cherokee that I think will work. Rebuilt them both and had them balanced.


After I filled it with coolant and ran it, I found that one of the freeze plugs had the tiniest little crack in it, probably from me installing it so off came the intake, exhaust and all the rest so I could replace it.

Prepped the Jeep and spray the underside with Cosmoline. This stuff is in my opinion the best if you don't want your vehicle to rust. It hardens to like a wax type finish and won't pressure wash off. You have to use brake clean or an acetone or something to get it off.

Probably spent about a full week cleaning the Jeep from sitting in the dirty garage being worked on for 4 years now. Polished it for two full days, cleaned the windows, clean the inside. Ceramic coated it, refinished the black trim with Cerakote wipes and installed the JCR roof rack. Got to say I'm pretty happy with how it looks.




Also installed a Amazon LED under hood light kit. Just needed to 3D print some angled spacers to shine the light more directly down on the engine and ran the wires through the structure of the hood.

And finally drove the jeep for the first time. Couple little issues to work out like these speedometers not working and there may be a small exhaust leak. I'm thinking where the header connects to the downpipe.

I'm thinking my speedo issue is a bad sensor, however, the transfer case I put in originally had a three wire sensor. However, I put my two wire sensor in there and I think you can do that because the pickup location for the gears all the same. But if anybody knows any more about that, I'd love some advice while I wait for the new sensor to arrive.

First I've heard of Cosmoline but looks identical to the CRC Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor I spray on in the fall, how did you spray it? It gets pretty sticky coming out of the aerosol cans.
Also, those Cerakote wipes are good stuff!

Same stuff really. That's just the name it's commonly known by. It's famous in the gun community as the military would basically dip guns in it for storage.

First time using those Cerakote wipes and they were really impressive. However if I was doing it again I would of painted the flares instead. On the smooth surface they left it a bit streaky, but the textured stuff looks fantastic.

Great job Quin... Yes the military stored just about everything metal with a coating of cosmoline on it... Even Mopar dipped certain suspension parts in cosmoline right at the factory before assembly...Anyhow it looks fantastic I bet your happy with the results...

Made some front mud flaps out of three millimeter ABS sheeting.


3D printed some simple brackets so that I could physically bolt the bracket to the fender flare bolts and save drilling holes into the fender flares as it wouldn't be very strong that way.
