Lift Help
To all,
I am on deployment and recently had my friend pick up a dime piece back home in ****ty Tucson, AZ. This 1999 XJ is almost too pretty to turn in to a hell raising pretty **** mobile. Anyways this is my first XJ and I have so many aspirations, and ideas for it but I am starting with the lift and tires. I have decided to go with the Rubicon Express 5.5" Long Arm full suspension kit... I know maybe overkill but hey what hell might as well go big or go home. I might downgrade to a 4.5" if I don't like the DD being a huge monster truck going down the highway.
Okay down to the dirty parts... Does anyone have the 5.5" RE long arm kit on their jeep with 35's? What do yall think of your height compared to the tire size? Did you cut and fold your fenders? Could you properly fit your 35's on your jeep with just the lift and nothing else? Or would I need to bump stop? Sorry for all the questions but I would like to know for sure since I am spending around 4K or so just to lift this beauty. Any help or pictures of your rigs would help a lot! Thanks!

Cant say too much on the lift since I am 2" lower then what you want (RE 3.5" short arm). But you will need bump stops and lots of fender trimming to run 35s. Looks like you have a real nice XJ to start with and thanks for serving. Enjoy modding.

Well....ordered the 5.5RE long arm kit. Was posted at 2.4k out the door but bs'd with the guy from 4wheelparts on the phone for a while about his XJ and he took 400 off the price! Gotta love the fellow jeepers out there. I might end up ordering 4.5" springs and leaf springs if it rides too high. Next paycheck I order the tires (33x12.50xR15) and paycheck after I'll order the new black rims. Then an SYE kit, anyone have any experience with those at all? It seems like a pretty straight forward job but I'm not sure what kind of RTV I would need to order.
Ill upload some pictures of the lift kit tomorrow, stay tuned.
