I got brakes again. Replaced the shoes on both sides and a wheel cylinder on the passenger side. I will be ready to get working on the zj disk brake swap.

Nope that will be the new color for the whole hero besides the blacked out hood and cowl. The camo paint is getting retired there has been clones of it and im a one of a kind kind of guy so new paint is in order. Just got to figure out how many cans it will take for the complete paint job. Everything else will be in black. The accent color is what I need to figure out next so I can do my stencils of what I want.

Personalizing our XJ has to be the one of the best parts of "The Jeep Thing" I would love to paint mine the way I would really like to, but if I did I wouldn't want to get a scratch on it. So I am going to keep mine a simple rattle can white. Easy to keep looking decent, I think the color scheme you are choosing will be just as easy too.
But for grins. I have always wanted to do another paint job like the one we did on my friends '69 Chevelle back in 1977, We painted the whole white with black racing stripes scheme, sanded the paint and sprayed it with a platinum pearl top coat. We did the color in my garage, but for the final coat he wanted it sprayed in a booth so that the finish would be perfect so he had someone he knew that work at a shop do it, the only problem was they sprayed it over the black strips too. It was still beautiful but the pearl over the black did not look right. I think that pearl white would look awesome on my XJ but it would not be practical for what it is used for. Maybe some day when I am done with the rougher type of trails I'll build a pavement princess???

That paint color is in rattle can. No fancy paint job for the hero just one I can touch up every now and then with a can. Lol

Yeah, That is what I'm sticking too while I am still wanting to try most anything with my rig, but at some point that will defiantly change (I have the tenancy to dive in and out of obsessions usually lasting about 7 years) and then a nicer paint job might be in its' future. Or I might sell it to some one that wants to use it like it should be and buy different XJ cleaner inside and out.

Have you considered plastidip? You can get a lot of different colors, it's cheap, and easy to touch up. I would definitely consider that if you want a cheap paint job that you might want to change every now and then.

No I hadn't only because the original paint only lasted about 3 months after I bought it. Then the camo paint has been that way for almost three years june 5th. (Day I bought it) lol. This next paint will last till something happens to me or it whichever comes first. But I already put one engine in it so ill do anything to keep it going..

Been looking for a spare tire since I traded my old one for 4 31's on rims. The prices on Craigslist are crazy or no answer when you contact them. And im leaving to go wheeling/camping after work tomorrow and really would like a spare tire.

I found a spare tire. Its not the greatest but it will get me home if need be. Its a km1 32x11.50x15 its a little smaller but still in the ok range. Better than nothing.
