that sucks bro. Even if it was installer error, didn't you say you have a shop installing them?
If so then it would be on them to replace the part.

How do you like the performance of your new gears? More power? Different shift points?

I'm having some kid prolly a year older than me install them at his vehicle training school so it's not very official. So if worst comes to worst I'll just have to buy a new pinion.

Hmmm, I'd be scared... I've set up 14 sets of gears and I'd still pay a pro to set up the gears that I'd drive on the street every day.

The D30 pinions are easy to strip the threads off.

He's going to just slap the rear gears back in it? those need to be set up too before it's driven... I wouldn't drive it if they were just thrown back in there. Your rear axle won't last a week.

No the rear is all done. The dana30 pinion just got messed up so he's putting the old gears back in correctly and disconnecting the front driveshaft. So 4x4 won't be an option until I get a new pinion and my new 4.88s can go in the d30.

He is saying the front needs to be set up again, even of they are stock gears.

If it all came out, they need to be RE done

No front drive shaft

Or axle shafts

Here's the stripped pinion

It's much worse in real life

But besides that the difference is like night and day. I have A TON more power and my jeep takes off just like it did stock. I would highly recommend 4.88s to anyone who can't make up there mind between them and 4.56. My speedo is about 10mph fast now and I haven't drove it enough to see what my mpg's are but I will when this tank is up.

I thought he was referring to the back. The front don't matter.

PLEASE!!! try to find a HP D30 to throw in since you have to buy a new ring and pinion anyway. At the same time just save for a front locker too
