I sent the pinion out today to see if it can be replaced. I don't really have the money for a new front axle and I can't keep my xj off the road for to long because its my only vehicle. Believe me if I had money and a dd I would be putting one tons under her lol

The axle you have will be fine. You'll break shafts long before you have to worry about R&Ps.

i believe it looks more like a shim. 0_o I did mine. and there's no crush sleeve. and an experience mechanic knows... *whisper- you reuse the crush sleeve on most axles* you need a torque multiplier sometimes. F*** that! xD

No crush sleeve on a dana 30. The pinion nut does have 3 high spots in the nut to keep it torqued and from backing off. If you get lazy and hit it with an impact gun it will mess up the threads if you're not careful, which is probably what that guy did

I don't think they would cover it because it's a school. It's completely off the books and he's doing the whole job for $225 so the cost of replacing the part would be around that anyway. Plus he's a friend of a friend and I'm going to school there next year too. It was a real good deal until they broke my part, now it's just a pain in my *** lol.

awe man that sucks. you are in a tight spot. I would just suck it-up too. you are doin the right thing. Its the price you pay to save. GL.

But I would try to get him to knock some money off of his price to install it.

since he's the idiot who doesn't know how to tighten a nut with out stripping it.
he's gotta take responsibility too. That's not fair to you; friend of a friend or not.

Just sayin bro, don't get takin advantage of.
especially if your kid... Sorry I say kid; but keep in mind that i'm 42 and you could be 25 and your still a kid to me....lmao. But you get my point.

-quick disconnect front door mod
-cut 'n fold rear quarters and bedline
-shackles and spacers for 2" more lift
-buy a tube bender and steel and fab up bumpers
-hood vents
-new cat back exhaust
-beefed up tie rod
-custom metal rear light boxes
-bedline roof
-black out turning signals and reflectors
-ball joints u joints and common maintenance
