The jeep is out of intensive care and in rehab! soon to be better then ever!!
a couple buddies helped me get a ton done the past few days.
got the front axle all buttoned up with new carrier bearings, inner seals, wheel bearings, u-joints, moog ball joints and steering knuckles off of a 98 axle.
from this
to this
frame brackets have been done, welded to the frame in several different power settings, and welded in crush sleeves...those arent moving...ever. then coated with Duplicolor rust fix. (black runny stuff)
Bye Bye old LCA mounts!!!
and then just put it together!...bad at taking pictures, but basically threw all the painted goodies at it, bilstein shocks, 4.5 rubicon coils with 1 inch spacers.
poor cinder block
its just was thrown together cause i wanted to drive it before the end of the night. around the block it was! how good it feels to hear it rumble to life again. godda adjust the track bar, springs hitting the bracket.
still quite a bit to do.

so i adjusted the track bar and aligned it so its pretty darn close to right. i think im going to make a track bar bracket soon because the one on here isnt cutting it... the ride is terrible because theres nothing in the back...that means the leafs have no weight and ride like a tank....so it doesnt feel like the ride has improved with the long arms....however i wont know untill i get some weight in the rear. it needs the gas tank skid, and the rear seat...and some tools and a spare. then ill know.
today....i cleaned up the rear axle for about 3 hours with the wire wheel....got bored and started making stuff...found a pipe off of a rocking bench thing, and imagined it together. ill let the pictures show how i did everything.
painted it up, letting it dry and tomorow ill see what it looks like with lights on it.

oh boy oh boy lots of updates
....been bustin *** getting it done. the fronts just about done, just godda hook up the driveshaft and figure out the steering stabilizer, theres not enough clerance for the bolt between the tie rod end and steering stablizer mount....
i worked on the rear today.... ripped out the dana 35 and took apart the leafs to put in the 3 degree shims, sprayed the springs down with rustfix, and painted them with cheap paint. put on the rough country shackles at the low setting (i think about 1 inch shackle lift)
also made new higher clearance shock mounts
had a good idea for the rear as well. i noticed in pictures when you use a leaf pack of around 3 inch lift and a 2 inch shackle, it seems to push the rear axle foreward and shortens the wheelbase and looks kinda stupid....so thought up of an idea to move the axle back 1 inch. i took a 2.5x6 inch plate and drilled a 1/2 inch hole (centering pin is 1/2 inch). i drilled the hole 2 inches from the front of the plate and welded it to the leaf perch so the hole was facing forewards. also drilled a hole to allow the u bolt plate to fit as well.
now the stance is stretched foreward from the long arms, and the rear is pulled back as well. between the 1/4 inch plate and the shim, that should act like a 1/2 inch block as well...so total lift is rustys 3.5 inch springs (actual 4-4.5) with rough country 1 inch shackle and a 1/2 inch block (essentially). i ran outta flux wire today so tomorrow ill finish welding it up, paint it and throw it under.

oh man oh man....been workin my *** into the ground...or atleast last week i did. got quite a bit accomplished...
i built a new track bar bracket from 1/4 inch plate....painted it and put it on, no pictures of it done, but ill snap one from under the jeep sometime...
then i finished cleaning up all the new welds, and old dirt and painted the rear axle...chrysler 8.25 29 spline, lunchbox locker, disk brakes, stretched back 1 inch. prime, rustolium hammer silver, clear enamel coat.
hit the ubolt plates too
then put the rear together, new brake lines, calipers, rotors, pads, its like new!
and BAM! its in!
how she sits with the rustys 3.5 inch springs and rough country shackles, with stretched rear...fronts pushed foreward as well.
isnt it pretty?
now its time for the hack n tap! compliments of Iron rock offroad!
took the tail cone off
protected the bearings
cut away!...put it in drive and let it idle to create a laithe
drill away! then tap it out....be sure to keep it running in drive again, keep the drill moving slow because the shaft is already spinning fast enough, dont wanna burn up bits. tap very slowly and very carefully, dont wanna break it now.
some red locktite, and its lookin good
although, i could use an extra inch...or half inch atleast.
welded on my shock bolts, blead the brakes, filled the rear with 85/140 lucas gear oil and took er for a test run. love the locker, love the ride. smooth like a caddy!
now all thats left is to clean and paint the front driveshaft, put that back on, and hook up the front sway bar...and go nuts with a grease gun and all my fancy new grease fittings...
however....i might need to make a new steering stabilizer mount....my steering setup is super close to the mount now, i know soon as i put the steering stabilizer on it will hit....dunno what to do really... i dont feel like welding under it...might have to cut it off and make a new one though... what do you guys think?

found a way to shorten the uppers... put on the steering stabilizer, aligned it some more, and got new shoes!!!!
33x12.5 duratracs. the guys at the garage dropped the jeep off the lift from like 4 feet up....they couldnt find a place to put the arms....so they lifted it up, took the wheels off...then took the 2 new wheels out of the back and the jeep just missed the ground too much...no damage! haha just gouges in the concrete from the rotors....
