wow havnt been on here in a while! well met one of my dads friends that owns a performance hsop and all he does is superchargers and turbochargers! so he has all the programming stuff and a wideband so he is going to help me tune it for free! he said with the turbo at 8psi of boost i should be at 250hp to the wheels! or like 280 total. cant wait! ill post some more vids too!
Eh I'd say 8psi and no way to cool the intake charge..190-200 is about all you'll get. Think tires and 4x4 robbing power.
If you had a way to cool the intake charge, intercooler or meth injection. Then it'd make some more, with meth you could make quite a bit more.
Referance the red Yj and red Xj builds on homemade turbo. They both make around 200whp with 33's. I think at 8psi as well.

hmm, i always thought slapping together a cheap turbo kit on a stock engine was a very bad idea?
still cool you did it.
how long it will last though?

Pending a tune, about as long as a stock 4.0. If he keeps it at 6-8psi he'll be fine! I really want him to get a intercooler or meth, cause his intake temps are through the roof! But again theres many turbo 4.0s out now..
12lbs is about all the stock headgasket will hold, anything more literally blows it from between the head & block!
Dude on jeestrokers had 13psi on a 100% stock 4.0, blew head gasket & a piston at 13psi..intake temps through the roof but she held together! Think it made like 480ftlbs at like 4000rpm when it blew..videos on youtube anyway!
I encourage him to get a intercooler or meth and make it a safer motor, and then tune it.
I'd run nothing short of a 5w40 or 15w40 in there..maybe even a 50w honestly.

so i got my jeep tuned by the guy the other day! its was running a 15.1 AFR under boost, which is extremely lean, as after tuning its down to about 11.6, which is where you want to be under boost, and it feels sooooo much more torquey. i can floor it now without worrying about blowing my engine! lol and since it richened up it keeps it cooler too, so im running about 190* driving around, used to be at 205*.

Just to see how much of a difference it actually makes
