I haven't been updating day by day because I have so much going on at once right now. The CB is in the J10, the rear shims are in the YJ (and starting on the fronts shortly), I have lots of parts on the way, and I picked up 37s. In a mad rush to get both rigs ready for Rausch Creek this coming weekend. It's all gonna depend on the pinion angle after I shim the front.

Yesterday was fun cause somebody moved my wheel chocks overnight, and I made the rookie mistake of not inspecting before I resumed work. The Jeep rolled forward off the HiLift while I was laying down. With one tire off and the spring disconnected to install a shim, the roll forward made the axle rotate away from the jackstand I had placed under it.

Long story short, I'm only alive right now because Rubicon Express uses rebound clips on their springs instead of hammering down the clamps. A tread block got caught on the rebound bolt and stopped the axle from pivoting further.

So is it safe to say someone close to you will be "missing" soon?

I live in an apartment complex. Vandalism and vehicle break-ins are a monthly occurrence here. Add one to the long list of reasons why I want to get a house this year

Yeah no kidding. I haven't lived in an apartment complex for years (almost exactly 10)... can't say that I miss it.

Towed the YJ down to the club shop. I didn't get to go on that Rausch Creek trip, but I still got to use my new tow rig lol. It had too much tongue weight, but it was a short drive on back roads.

Now I'm down here, getting ready to pull the axles again so we can clean the tubes and start from scratch. I have new perches and shock tabs from Ruffstuff.

The problem is my pinion angles are incredibly high. I used 6° shims on both axles to bring the pinion DOWN, and they're still too high. The rear axle is still 3° above where I want it, and the front has so much caster that my drag link hits my leaf spring when I turn left or when my passenger front droops.

So, here we go again...

Default And Now For Something Completely Different - Clown's YJ Build

Progress was stopped for a few weeks. I moved my girlfriend's parents into their new house, CPO hosted our annual Memorial Day Meet & Greet, and I've been looking for a job since I am now OFFICIALLY a civilian again.

We finished grinding down the axles over the past week, got the new perches set up, and started welding today.

I threw a coat of primer on the rest of my Metalcloak parts, but they won't dry cause it's crazy humid. While I waited, I decided to freshen up my frame

What made you decide to use red oxide primer?

Jeep doesn't feel right without some rust!

In all seriousness, most red & grey primers here in 2015 are just different colors.
