Ol' Red 1998 XJ Build
Well it's finally time for me to start up a build post so here it goes.
Just got done cutting the front doors off, and I love it!
A few days after this I bought some new tires because my death wobble wore out the front set(fix the DW by the way)
Maxxis 32inch Big Horn
After ripping of a the other fenders I decided to buy an Angel Grinder and do some fender trimming what do you think.
Rear Fender Trim:
Tools:
Angle grinder
Hammer
Rubber Mallet
Sharpie
Truck Bed Spray Liner
Approach:
I started off with the angle grinder and trimmed about a half inch off, right below the binding welds— don't cut above that or you'll have a hell of a time trying to get a good seal.
Then I took my sharpie and drew some guide lines along the fender lip. Grabbed the angle grinder and started making slits up to the guide line.
Next step was hammering those tabs in, took hour or so on both side to make it look nice. Then I tapped up and sanded her down prepped it for the bed liner.
Well heres the finished outcome of the rear fender trim. I'm pretty happy about it.
Rusty's Front Fender installation:
Tools:
Angle Grinder
Rivet Gun
Water Based Marker
Power Drill
1/8 Drill Bit
Approach:
Well this project was pretty straight forward. Traced around the flare with the marker for placement. Drilled my 1/8 rivet hole every 4-5 inches, Rivet and call it a day.

Went to the local Pick n pull and picked up a hitch receiver for $16.00! The electrical plug-in cover is a little messed up but with a little grinding and painting shes gonna look real good.
Also picked up a overhead console, it was in perfect condidtion till i got my muddy hands on it. Should be able to clean it all the way. Just nervous about cutting a additional hole.
Well here's another update.
I grinded off the mangled electric plug-in casing, got primed and painted.
I had such a bad time installing this hitch receiver, I was cursing the Cherokee designers for days. I got it all ready to install and noticed there wasn't a nut strip on the drivers side, why wouldn't they just install them on both side grr. So i had to removed the end caps, remove the rear bumper, jimmy rigged my bolts to my wrench and a rope and push the wrench so it's lined up with the holes in the frame.
I've always wanted to install hood vents not only for the beefy look but as well of keeping the temperature down. I was going to use the Labaron hood vents but after seeing Muddeprived write-up with his westmarine vents for $27 bucks i couldn't beat that.
I cut out a template i made out of cardboard. Tapped up the hood and measured, did i mention measured. I actually got a rush cutting into the hood, the first cut was hard to start but after that is was all down hill.
My little helper inside the rig
Spay painted the hardware to prevent them from rusting.
Ran out of daylight and so i'll take some more photos tomorrow.
Next project is herculining the rear quarter panel and rocker panels.
Got done herculining the side paneling. Over all I'm very happy with the outcome.
It was a SOB getting the tacky glue residue from the side molding.
Alright grabbed some Hella 500FF today, everything went fairly smoothly beside not having a socket deep enough for the bolts mounting through the bumper. Figured out the wiring pretty quickly and gave it a test run, fail— figured it out and i forgot to ground off each individual light. Success!
Ill post photos tomorrow with tonights night shots.
Also received my Flowmaster Super 44 from Autozone today, i was hoping it was going to be as long as the stock and able to use the original tail pipe, any suggestions?

Ok the center clip is for the yellow wire. Other for ground and one to your power such as your sterio. It confused me as well thank god for the Internet.
STOP THREAD
so let me get this straight if your looking at the switch like this
pin 1
switch pin 2
pin 3
pin 2 is for the yellow wire
pin 3 is for the ground
pin 1 is for the power source
so for pin 1 did you hook that up to your stereo? could i go into my fuse box and find a 12v fuse and just pull that out and stick the wire in their and put the fuse back in so the wire is pinned into place that being the power source?
