Some of the guys on this forum said it wasn't that big of deal since its sitting on poly bushings anyway, just as long as its tight.

I had to re-do my work cause for some reason rustys thought it was a good idea to paint the threads on the shocks which was gumming up my nuts and making them a ***** to deal with.

Hope that helps.
Okay yeah I ended up doing the same thing but I'm pretty comfortable with the tightness. Thanks!

Here are my custom rear hockey puck bumpstops. I started the front, drilled and tapped the hole on the coil bucket, everything is ready to be put back together. The front end is in pieces and it's too much work to be done by myself. Hopefully I can get some help tomorrow and get it all put back together. There's a picture comparing old and new tie rods also.

Here's my new DD. The black box is sucking too much gas right now.

This is so sick! I'm a hockey player so I have tons of old pucks.. On the rear you just drilled right into the axle? How did they mount?

Thanks man but NOO WAY!! I would never drill into that! I bought these bump stop plates from liquid iron industries that replace the plates that hold my leaf springs to the axle. The hole in the point of them is threaded so bought some hardware that bolt right into them.

I deleted the pictures from my phone but if you look further in this post you can find a couple of then before they were mounted.

Got some tow hooks. I needed a recovery point in the front. I should be going wheeling for the first time this weekend. Just gotta figure out what these weird noises are that I hear in the steering, hope it's nothing bad.

Rausch creek in the morning. I'm ready to rock and roll! Let's hope the black box holds up.

Trailing for the first time went great. I don't have any pictures of the xj in action, there just wasn't any photo opportunities. Plus most of the time I forgot about pictures. I did take some while we were taking breaks though.

The black box took some damage, popped its cherry. I bashed in one of the bushwackers and bent a fender, probably scraped the under carriage a bunch to, won't find out til I clean it. Looks like it won't be a nice clean/sharp jeep anymore. Wheeling is just too much fun, eventually it's gonna look like some of these other guys xj's in the one picture.

Had a great time wheeling again this weekend. I removed the bushwackers to prevent damaging them... Again. It was a good idea too because I bashed in a quarter panel, the same one I just had fixed when I had the bushwackers installed. So now it's time for a cut and fold. Since I've got my wheeling fix in for the moment I'm going to start working on the jeep again. My next goals are to add an sye, order a winch bumper and some armor, and start bedlining stuff. The whole jeep I will be bedlined eventually inside and out. I'll start with the roof and the frame. I have a dent in the roof that needs pulled, and two small rotten spots on the frame rail and rocker panel that need patched. As far as armor goes I want some rock bars, gas tank skid, steering skid, and maybe an hd diff cover for the d30. A bunch more armor with time. I know a guy with a waggy d44 already modified for an xj that is currently on his jeep, but wants to upgrade to a d60. I told him to let me know when he's selling it and I'll make him an offer, because of this I don't want to upgrade my d30 very much. I want to add a power supply to power a cb radio, radar detector, and 120v power inverter. A guy I was wheeling with has an s-pod which was pretty sick, a little too pricey for me, but definitely something I want to add. I want to get a new electronic fan and some hood vents to help with the jeep getting hot, it doesn't overheat, but is a bear to get started once it sits and is really hot. A snorkel is also on the list to get. I'm going to ditch the interior soon too, and get some bucket seats with safety harnesses. Also, that rear d44 I have needs built.

Obviously I have an awful lot of things I "want", and not enough money to tackle in a short period of time. There's more to the "want" list also, I'm just trying to focus on the big and more necessary stuff right now. Hopefully I'll have one hell of a trail machine by next spring though.

It's been awhile since I posted. The build has been slow cause of the new DD car, and I'm looking for a new job. Plus both cars have been nickel and dime-ing me lately.

The XJ got some new stuff for Christmas. Today I installed a new distributor cap and rotor, can't remember what brand. It got new NGK copper core plugs and live wire plug wires. It got a rugged ridge throttle body spacer also. I haven't noticed anything different in performance. I also have jks quicker disconnects that I'm in the middle of installing. Removing the old sway bar link mounting bolts from the axle are becoming a pita.

So that's where the black box is at right now, not much new. It needs some tlc though, it's starting to leak from everywhere you can imagine. Maybe I can get some problems solved during inspection next month.

Installed the new jks discos. Also I trimmed up the stock splash guards to fit with the bushwackers. They fit pretty well, but I'm not sure what they will look like when I take the bushwackers off for wheeling.

The jeep needs inspected, but before I can do that I have a couple rust holes on the frame rails that need tended to. I also have a rust hole on the one rocker panel, and a dent on the roof that I'll get fixed at the same time. I'll take pics for before and after.

I ordered an iron rock hack n tap sye. I'll match that up with a front end driveshaft. I have a shopping list for the junkyard, hopefully I can make a good pull.

I'm thinking I'm gonna look for oem steering and gas tank skids, durango steering box, 784 injectors, fan shroud, fog light relay, hood vents, and maybe some grand cherokee seats.
