They're just some cheap *** usa steel rims. Not the cheapest that summit racing had, but pretty damn close.

I removed the pinstripe and the last 4x4 logo. Now it's blacker than ever. Soon I'll nightshade the brake and indicator lights, and maybe some angry eyes on the headlights. The only things left that aren't black (besides the interior) would be the shocks which will be an easy paint job.

The jeep goes to the body shop tomorrow to get a rusty frame rail and rocker panel patched up. It's due for inspection. After this I'm gonna lay a nice coat of bedliner on the frame rails and unibody.

I'll post pics soon, wish me luck on inspection.

There's so much I've been holding out on the build. Mainly I'm just too lazy to take pictures.

I yanked the carpet to bedline the floors, floor pans are clean!!! Jeep has no more rust, still haven't applied the bedliner yet. I bought a little fire extinguisher, then painted it black hahaha. I mounted that thing in the passenger side cubby hole in the quarter panel. The hack n tap sye arrived in the mail and I successfully pulled a front driveshaft off an xj in the JY. I'm currently cleaning that sucker up and replacing the u joints. If all goes well I'll repeat the process to the existing front driveshaft. Plan on installing these on Sunday. I'll also be buying a steering skid plate from foxmxrcr who is helping me do the sye. And finally I ordered 784 injectors from 831xj, those should be arriving shortly.

Real excited for these upgrades. My goal is to get the jeep back to feeling and handling like stock. The sway bar discos minimalized my roll. The sye should kill my vibes. When I regear I'll get my power and mpg back. And a durango steering box would really handle the larger tires much better. I just want it to be a more comfortable vehicle since I'm driving it daily.

Gotta paint those shocks black though, I'm not living up to my build haha.

784 injectors. Big difference. Nice smooth idle, well, smoother than before haha.

Jeep gets the sye installed tomorrow, I'm also buying a steering skid for it.

I got this cool thing from work. We put these cases in the baskets on boom lifts, they hold the manual for the lift. I found one in the scrap bin cause the metal panel it was on was junk. They have it to me for free. I plan on putting my Haynes repair manual in it and mounting it inside the hatch. It's water proof too.

That sye makes one hell of a difference. It was smooth sailing on the ride home.

I cleaned up that driveshaft. Ripped it apart, bought all new u joints, painted it (didn't do a great job cause of time), greased it up, and put it back together.

The sye was a pain as expected but the guy who helped me out knew what he was doing and succeeded where I would've failed. The instructions from iron rock were vague and could use some editing, preferably make it more vehicle specific cause it could be used on most jeeps with a 231.

I bought that steering skid from him and it's in great shape. It's gonna get cleaned up, painted and mounted ASAP cause it's gonna look badass. I wanna do something cool like paint a giant "xj" on it, but keep it black so you only notice it if you look close. I'll get some pictures up soon.

Where'd you grab that skid plate? My bros jeep had one that looked almost identical and we never could figure out exactly who made it

It's pretty much a stock skid plate that came on few xj's. You can search a junkyard and might get lucky, but don't cross your fingers. If you do find one its either rusted or heavily damaged. A friend of mine had one laying around that he didn't mind parting with that was In excellent condition.

However, you can buy them brand new online. They cost about $100 I think. Just Google Cherokee steering skid plate.
