I'm busy all this weekend, getting that 30 welded up with the truss and gussets, and hopefully getting it under the jeep before the events coming up around us.

Friend welded up the 30 in an hour haha; truss, C gussets, and mini-skids:
Dropped it off at the gear shop along with the bent one to have the internals swapped. Found a new gear guy as well, different than the guy that originally did my axles. Price was cheaper, experience the same, and turn around a day! Should have the jeep done for an event on the 21st, FlexRock4x4's first race in Batavia, NY!

Yeah I'm pretty stoked t get it back under, and start thrashing it again until the buggy is done. Then it will be mostly dd duties.
And the event is awesome, pro sponsored buggies racing on a course you help make, what more could you ask for?

Nice!!! That looks much better. I still have yet to get ahold of your welder, I was pricing out my stuff yesterday and found this they had just the sleeves for 100 something if you feel like going that far

I was debating sleeves, but after the truss I don't see the need to sleeve it. I just want to prevent the tube from bending again, and the truss more than covers that.

Picked up the axle today, gear guy said everything looked ok, even though the long axle shaft had messed up splines. Got it home and all painted up, going to get it under tomorrow. The good news is I've done this now so many times I can have it bolted under with vehicle weight on suspension, tires on ground, in less than 2 hours, including all new ball joints and everything haha.
Just need to get the track bar backet mocked up and welded on.

So we had our first FlexRock4x4 race event of the year. All went good, we had a few extra buggies versus last year, we were hoping to get more people to show up for open crawl:

I decided to try my hand at the buggy course on the second open crawl session, and..well, did ok until *SNAP:
I did everything the buggies did, but when I got to the rock garden my limited slip decided half way through it didn't want to give me any more lock so the rear wheels spun as the wished and with the front locked stuck in some rocks, POP.
So no big deal, I popped a cap, everyone does (if you wheel more than a dirt road), well don't forget these were full circle snaps AND welded (only tacked but still), and that didn't make a difference.
Well I had to get tugged off the rocks by a rock bouncer, and parked it until the end of the event. Drove it to my friends house a few miles away to see the damage (mind you its clunking and twisting and I left it as is), well the good news was that I could drive home..

The bad news was the loud POP I heard driving to my friends house wasn't the U-joint throwing the other caps, but rather:
Here are the rocks I broke on,the first buggy that tried to pull me out, and some of the carnage:
