guess what???

UPDATES!!!

Finally got around to installing my CB, and with the help of a buddy welded up a custom antenna mount. I don't like the mounts that attach at the top of the taillight, so like everything else I had to be different and attached it in the middle. Quite happy with the way the mount turned out. Just need to get a spring and disconnect now.

Also took a trip to Ocean City for Jeep Week 2012 a few weekends ago. Had a great time except for the ridiculous amount of torrential rain that dumped on us Saturday evening. All in all not too bad of a trip though - didn't win anything at the show and shine but i'll be better off next year for that, and thrashed it a little bit at the fairground obstacle course. Disappointed I didn't get to play on the awesome course they had set up Saturday night due to the flooding rain...

Anyways - highlight pictures

Didn't know if it was a name for a stretch on the highway. Went last year and the pictures look almost identical.

CB Mount turned out great. Couple months back there was some discussion about the proper length of cable needed for proper reception etc. Did you follow what the guy said in the link you had or did you use the standard length to tune it?

nah all my research said that the 18' standard length for best reception was BS, and that a cable should be only as long as you needed it to be. I got a 12' cable and it was JUST long enough - seems to be working pretty good (although half the time i can't understand a freaking word truckers are saying)

That's because they're truckers, even they can't understand what they're saying half the time lol

yea. I still need to address the SWR though - anyone good with this stuff? I calibrate it at CH 20, and SWR is high (~3), turn down the calibration to get a SWR <2 at CH 20, and then adjust 1 and 40 to be as low as possible. However, CH 1 i get a SWR of around 1.2, but at CH 40 it's almost 3. Am I doing something wrong?

I plan on taking mine to a shop. I receive in very short range, but I blanket multiple channels with my transmit. I know there's a shop in Thurmont that does CB work, but I'm sure there's one closer to you. I read a review that said he'll tune it, adjust all your settings, and verify full functionality for $30. With all the extra ***** I have on mine, that's worth it to me.
