No, I don't lick fish.
This is the sound deadener i bought - 2 layers of foil and a 50mil butyl substrate
SD7 Super Sound Deadener Double No Smell Aluminum 100 Butyl Dynamat Sample | eBay
Everywhere I researched said that Butyl is the material you want for this - it doesn't smell like asphalt-based products, and more importantly it doesn't melt. It also is a viscoelastic material (unlike asphalt), which makes it a much better vibration dampener - or more accurately it's a "constrained layer viscoelastic vibration damper" (CLD).

Do you know if it's water proof?

no one else bid on it - got 25 sq.ft. for <$35. And yes it's waterproof.

yea it's a mixing tool for the liner to put into a power drill.
Plan is to repair the metalwork on the floors next Wed-Fri evenings at Alex's shop in Sykesville. Monday (most likely) next week i will be tearing the interior out of the truck and doing some light prep in my driveway. Sat/Sunday i'll be sanding/painting/lining.
At least that's the plan

Thanks for the info Dukie... This is exactly what I'm looking for with mine. My rust isn't as bad as yours so I'm going to be doing POR15 -> Fiberglass -> SD7 -> then bedliner

Just make sure the coatings are compatible with what they are being applied to. I can tell you that bedliner over the sd7 does not work without help (etch primer then epoxy primer in my case) - adhesion will be an issue.

Yeah I was reading that in your earlier posts... where did you find all of your adhesion info at?
