Just wow. Read this start to finish. I meticulously treated my old Auto-X car like you treat your XJ (Both are maroon!) and as much as I like my XJ and reading build threads and fixing stuff, I wanted it just to a practical 4wd and stuff hauler.

Your build makes me want to get back into modding. Thanks but at the same time dammit, here go my next few paychecks.

Thumbs up

This is a great build. Reading fo two days now and for a beginner, like myself, GREAT JOB .. REALLY!

Using some of your ideas. Hope you dont mind. That rear Subwoofer spot was being prepared for a ARB compressor but now i know it has a different utility .

Let me suggest a couple of things.

Because you have a sub using a lot of inner pannel space, this mod would be great .. just in case...

Also, i know bushwacker's are pretty expensive but, i think their really worth the trouble. Think about it.

I would suggest that you change your tyres to BF AT 33"12.5;

Hope you keep doing some changes to that great machine. Subscribing the topic!!

Haha... Thanks. But, don't be blaming me if a couple more than the "next few" paychecks end up going toward your rig

Thanks for checking out my rig!

So far the subwoofer is working out great in that location. I will check out those rear quarter panel guards.

As for the tires, I probably should've started with 33'' But, they're still pretty new and I'm content with them for now. I've been pretty happy with the suspension articulation and lack of rubbing thus far. These tires are still pretty new, but when they are due for replacement, perhaps I will consider some 33".

Thanks bud!

School? I went to school, but not for anything automotive related if that's what you were wondering.

Nice looking rig though! There's no rush, just make some mods here and there. There are plenty of budget-minded solutions out there.

Nice!

That thing has held up so well... I've even had that bolt in and out a few times and it's still holding strong! That craftsman wrench is doing work!

Every time I open my tool chest, I see the empty spot where it used to be. Some wrenches were just destined for a higher line of duty I guess . Lol...

Forever? Hope you saved some time to modify your own rig!

I guess this thread IS getting rather lenghty.... 40-some pages...

Pretty much the same on all forums, but then again you pick up some tricks using them since around 2001

Been trying to get some things together for my wheeling trip to Rock Run Rec next weekend. Apparently, there a few things they require your rig to be equipped with. A hi-lift jack is one of them so I searched around and found a decent deal on Craigslist for $50 with a bag:

Probably never use it, but it'll be there if I ever do.

Still need to pick up a fire extinguisher...

If nothing else, it'll look cool mounted in the XJ.

Yeah, I'll prob pick one up this weekend. But, if you can just meet me at Rock Run Rec park on Friday, then I'll just hold off on the fire extinguisher Haha, thanks for the offer.

Should get me by.

Starting to pack things up and preparing for the big trip, only a couple more days and I'll be on the trail!
