Right on - I've got a 5 footer too... I had a 5' firestik and it finally gave up on me. Someone gave me a pair of 5' fiberglass whips that are a brand that I've never even heard of - turns out they rock! I've got one mounted and the other as a spare - have a near 1:1 SWR on it and it gets out good too! I think I'll take the firestik, remove all the windings and scrap them - then convert the whip into a dune flag.

It's that time of the year again. I pulled out all of my interior and performed a full clean of the carpet, seats, and everything else in there:

I don't like running without the carpet because of all the noises (creaking, squeaking, etc) that you hear. The insulation under the carpet does a lot of work.

My old mats were just getting dirty and the rubber ***** on the back kept falling off into the carpet, so I replaced them with these nice Jeep ones from Advance for $30:

Got a few things done today. For one, removed my transfer case drop to put my front driveshaft at a better angle. It wasn't really necessary from day one since I have a slip yoke eliminator:
Since taking out the transfer case drop kit, my exhaust hanger right above the crossmember was loose because of a bad bushing, so my exhaust would rattle. I installed a new bushing there and with some homebrew engineering I made the rattling stop:

Yesterday my buddy's transmission gave out. It was a 2wd AW4 out of a 98 XJ and it just wouldn't move the Jeep anymore.
So today, we got a nice used one from the junk yard. This one has an NP231 transfer case on it, and my buddy's Jeep already has a four wheel drive front axle, so we can bolt it right up and make his 2wd Jeep a four wheel drive Jeep.

New TruckLite LED headlamps came today... they look mean, but the real test will be tonight. Can't wait to see how they compare to the halogens and the HIDs I used to have.
