Default Project Ironside

So I picked up my 1993 jeep Cherokee for $600 on Saturday, it has the 4.0 HO motor, auto transmission, 3" lift, 32" tires, diamond plated running boards, Western brush guard, and chrome pipe bumper. But it has its issues. The mirrors are awol, the driver's rear door handle is non existent, the windshield is cracked, the front fenders/header panel are junk, and the floor needs work. Did I mention it hasn't been on the road since 2004? So I figured why not just build it from where it is. So here it is. Project Ironside This is it as of most recently today.
now I already did the electrical work it needed. I bought it with the gauges not working so I checked the fuse box and found #17 fuse pulled. Popped in a 7.5 fuse and viola, the gauges work. The oil pressure was reading a bit too high though at 80psi so I figured something was up. So I checked it and sure enough... Bad oil pressure sending unit, so I bought a new one and threw it on, it idles at 42 psi. Then I also had to deal with no exhaust on it. So I borrowed my father's old 91 xj muffler and threw it on so it was quieter. That ended up making it quiet enough for me to drive it around his land which brings me to the next issue... The lack of mirrors, hopefully I can get a set of mirrors for it before the end of the year. The Jeep and my DD Chevy 1500. What a pair lol
ill keep updating this as I go along, but I would definitely appreciate any and all the help and knowledge (and support) that you can give.

Wow, wish my XJ had sponsers, are they gonna throw some dough your way to help get her driveable again? LOL.

Good luck with your project!

mine had some stupid stickers on it too. I peeled them off the best I could. After, I used a light application of goof off applied to a shop towel. I made swirling motions with the shop towel over the sticker. It eventually wiped away. Immediately after, I rinsed the area with water.

Sticker removal will be a pain since they have probably been on for a long time, but adhesive remover and a plastic razor blade will probably be your best bet. Or you can buy an adhesive removing disc that fits into a hand drill to speed things up once the bulk of the sticker is gone to get off the residue.

I have never tackled a floor before and I'm no welder. So unfortunately, I have no advice to offer. Are the mirrors broken off? What is the story there.

i will try that as well, since they are basically all over the sides and rear. Adhesive remover would probably get the newest ones off

previous owner that I got the Jeep from took it off roading and rubbed up against some trees and the mirrors got ripped off. So he duct taped the openings lol

Maybe throw up some pics of the openings minus the duct tape. I have never taken a mirror off. My first thoughts would be: Are the mounting brackets on the body that held the mirror still there and functional? What is condition of wiring harness the went to each mirror (if they were powered)?

there's no wiring for them it's literally just the whole housing thing is completely gone including where they would mount into. it's just a hole that's why there's tape on it lol Zoom In on the spot where the mirrors are, cause that's all I have lol it's literally nothing there

The mirrors screw in behind the door panel, you should be able to pick up some mirrors off a parted XJ on craiglist or at the junkyard along with the screws and pop them in.

I have no hardware for both the outside mirrors and the rear view mirror.
