How far does your cb work? Mine sucked and my buddy is a trucker and he showed me a trick. Get a longer cable from the whip to the cb. Then wrap it in a tight coil around a piece of 1" pipe about a foot long. I have done it on all my jeeps since and it works great. It probably doubled the range of my current uniden pro750.

No, I don't lick fish.

I would keep your 4' antenna though... I mean, I know you're only using it for convoys and trail rides, but a 4' will be better for range... you never know, one day you could be bringing up the rear and the trail leader is a couple of miles ahead, over a hill, around the corner and in the thick of a bunch of trees... would be nice to have a little more range, wouldn't it?

5' firestick mounted just above the taillight
gets out pretty good too.

Just got home from three days at Rausch Creek Offroad Park in PA. Here's the carnage, and I'll retrofit action shots to this post once I get them from dukie564.

Engine skid...Used to be straight
Driver side
Passenger side
Pass side pinch seam
Pass side rocker panel
Exhaust joint where downpipe meets cat. Missing three nuts, three washers, and the the one that was complete was so loose that I took the nut off the bolt with one hand.
Crossmember...used to be straight
Transmission skid did its job
New gas tank made it through without a scratch, despite the missing skid.
Driver side rear quarter. Note the crushed exhaust tip.
Rear shot
This guy lives a few blocks from me.
And let us all take a moment of silence to remember my factory spare. That 215/75/15 Centennial Canyon Climber from 1987 lived a long and devoted life until it was tragically lost in a puddle. Gone but not forgotten.

A bit of an understatement. My stock '88 on 30s, with swaybar connected, ran greens, blues, and a trail that the group agreed should have been rated black.
And I've just decided since pictures rarely show how steep angles are when offroading, I'm going to start tying twine or 550 cord to a few spots on my Jeep before hitting the trails so it will show where vertical is.

Also learned on the drive back that my temp light works now. Before I replaced my freeze plugs, my high temp light (idiot lights on my dash) would come on at the same time my coolant started boiling out. My light came on today driving through the mountains, we stopped for a few minutes with the hood open, and I never had any trouble from it. YAY!
Bought an aux temp gauge anyway so I can keep an eye on it. I just got my deposit back today from my old apartment, so I'll be ordering Dirtbound Offroad's 3-fan E-fan kit and a switch panel for my dash once the check clears.

And I'm still beautiful, with a wonderfully defined neck tanline. Definitely time for a shower.

Thanks. I still don't plan on shortening the bed, but I'm more interested in the rear quarter cut and fold now. Once I get sliders and bumpers, I won't have any trouble.
