Only took 10 days after I brought it home to get the MJ offroad.
I really gotta get a solid rear bumper
I was prepared
Let's play a game. Guess what I replaced after I got home:
Don't mind that tow strap around my axle. Only got stuck once, right at the beginning of the trail. After that, she took care of me. Surprised the guys with big lifted JKs on 35+ tires. Of course I had to bypass some of the stuff they did, but I made it to the end of the trail.
Also installed a replacement stock radio from cgarrett's XJ. Now I have a clock and a working tape deck. New grille was painted by 96xjclassic, like the rest of my paintables.
Just drove down to Virginia to pick up a tailgate on Craigslist. The seller had two MJs, and he just sold his third MJ and his XJ today. His garage was filled with parts and he needed to make space, so he threw in a set of side mirrors and smoker vents for free with the tailgate. $80 took it all.

Thanks, fellas.
Took her offroad again today with a group of a dozen XJs. I stalled the first time I crossed the river. Two XJs got stuck trying to tow me out, and then I started her back up and drove out unassisted. Took another hour to get the other two out
Besides that, I got stuck three times total. Once cause we got bunched up in a mud pit and I had to stop in the middle, and twice going through the same hole cause I had to hit it again after we turned around. That plow mount on the front turned out to be extremely helpful. It's my front recovery point, and the rear strap was around the axle.

More pics from today:
I got stuck.
...And then there were two...
...And then there were three...
...And then I drove to solid ground and helped them out.

Even if I just BB 1.5" and throw some 30s on (for now), this thing will kick serious ***. I would've done much better if I had tread on my tires. I was nervous just driving home in the rain.

I'm gonna get Firestone Destination M/Ts or Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs, but I don't wanna buy stock size tires and then lift.

I never said I pulled anyone
After the MJ was safe, I physically helped push zwhiz out after he dug in, and I helped push jakbob off his high-center. You were on your own, dukie

NICE! Glad to see youve got a build thread going on this I say you chop the ends off the stock bumper ASAP as tribute to the XJ formerly known as "the second newest XJ on here"
