Minor update: I got a HP D30 today with brakes and steering, delivered to the shop with the MJ, for $120. Not bad a bad deal considering I had the axle delivered less than 24 hours after we started talking. The plan is to use the steering and UCAs from this '96 axle since they seem to be in better shape. Also gonna swap in better coils from my parts collection to (hopefully) return to original height. My front end is sagged so badly that I have alignment problems due to the lowering of track bar.

My lofty goal is completion by Friday night. Realistically, the goal is Monday.

Nice. Don't fix it too fast. May have to return the xj lol.

I'm trying to give his XJ back, but I'm not sure if he wants me to yet. I topped off the oil, replaced the shifter bulbs, and I'm keeping the tank full

I already am lol. We work on them together a lot (a lot more when the weather doesn't suck), and I figure the least I can do is fix a few little things if he's letting me borrow his freakin' XJ for a week.

Sounds about right. Good thing gas tank is around $65 to fill. I borrow my pops oversized surburban once. Took over 100 to fill

Man, wish I could fund a hp30 axles here for that kind of money. For some reason, people and here treat jeep parts like gold... Even the junk yards charge 200 or more for an axle. And you have to get the whole axle... God forbid you ever need just shafts or a carrier... Nope, have to shell out for the whole thing.

My buddy Tommy is here to explain the problem. This is immediately after putting the Jeep on the lift, before we did anything.
