I still need to drill and tap the broken bolts for the rusted old bumpstop.
But I like your idea. Just need to pick up some hockey pucks and fix the OEM mount. You install yours?

Finally got the bump stop plates installed. I got these from Botak, but I forgot where he got them from.
Factory plate
Bump stop plate painted Krylon Almond with clear coat
Test fitting to see where it will sit exactly
Removed the u-bolts and the threads stripped. Piece of crap import material!
Replaced with new u-bolts (same import material I think). 3-1/8" ID x 8" L from AutoZone for $20. Installed the bump stop plate and it wouldn't fit over the center pin nut. So I mounted it on top of the factory plate and nuts. When I picked these up from Botak, we pondered that thought of installing them. I went this route so I can swap the plate and add a new bump stop later if needed, without tearing everything apart.
The bump stop pictured is the factory rear one off my 2007 Silverado. I bagged that truck and notched the chassis, so the factory bump stops were tossed in a box and put away for over 2 years. I was cleaning out work bench cabinet and found the box this was in, along with brand new spare extra hardware from that install.
These measure 4-1/2" tall. There is a little nub on the OEM Silverado bump stop surface mount face that you will have to cut off with a dremel. This is to position it on the Silverado frame so you can tighten it. The stud fit perfectly into the plate without modification.
The height from my tire to the fender is 7-1/2". The height from the bump stop to the frame is 4-1/2" to 5". I haven't tested these out yet, but I am sure that this will be enough to keep the tire from hitting.
Neighbor kid asked me to park on the curb. So here is the awesome flex shot.
He is intrigued by my Jeep and always stops by when I am working on it. So I show him what I am doing, how and why I am doing it. Then today while trying to lift one of my tires, he said to me "so this is why you swear so much when you work on it" ... future Jeeper?? I think so.

Took it for a spin and it feels like the body is shifting on the axles. Similar to a dog wagging its tail and shaking its body when it runs... best example I can give lol.
I checked all the bolts on the suspension today. Nothing was loose. Feels like it is coming from the rear. It doesn't do it when the sway bar is connected though so I am thinking a possible alignment issue.
Tomorrows drive on the freeway to the other side of town will be fun!

SYE install in a couple weeks? Thinking the weekend since my work won't let me take off any more time til Moab (only because my manager is going and we lost another guy at work). If he can't take off, I can't take off. Sucks!

Mounted my air tank in the same spot as my '97.
This tank is an old discontinued stock Napa 10 gal that I picked up in Moab in 2004 for $15. Swapped the hose for an air chuck and a short air hose from Harbor Freight. Filled the tank to check for leaks, hooked the hose up and BOOM! The air hose blew. I guess several years of use and sitting in the garage for a while didn't help. Time for a new one now.

Order online from him and have it shipped. About $50 cheaper. I ordered mine online (Ebay) from him and got everything in 2 days. I went down there to pick it up and it was over $460 after tax. Online there is no tax and no freight.

Legally he does need to charge tax to any sales shipped within NV, but it's a nice way around. I'm just ordering the SYE, no driveshaft for now. I think it's right around $160, which is actually LESS than I paid for my RE HnT and Spicer joint. Stupid me didn't look for deals. I picked up a great condition stock front XJ shaft.

I found the Rugged Ridge SYE for $150 plus free shipping. I saved the website on my work computer so I will check it tomorrow.
Dan's Driveline is closer to me, but they never gave me a price on the kit. Every time I call they say they have to call me back with pricing.
