Well.... replaced the ilder pulley when I got home. Thought that was the source of the squeekin'.
Nope.
Coming from the fan hub bearing instead. Ironic thing is, that's a cheaper part than the fan pulley. Gonna be a PITA to replace it though. Stupid thing is pressed in to the alternator bracket. I JUST had that out a couple months ago. Wish it would've been squeekin' then!
Also finally decided on a header in lieu of attempting to repair the OEM manifold with sketchy welders (person) and sketchy welders (machine). Already have new installation hardware and a fel-pro gasket... also have a flex coupling that I'll be putting in as well so I don't have to worry about it cracking again (hopefully).

Probably better move our "testing" to the test section.
My build thread is turning into a bunch of misc.

So somehow I gacked the oil pan gasket when I replaced it, however many years ago. Ended up breaking into two pieces at the back of the pan and leakin' like a sieve.
Replaced it with a NEW Fel Pro using their new handy-dandy installation pegs... really does make it easier. Tightened everything down and degreased everything with some Simple Green. Checked underneath this morning after the drive to work and again at lunch. Still looks pretty dry! FINALLY!
Now I just gotta replace the cracked up exhaust manifold and she'll be running MINT.

[Friday] ordered new fan hub bearing to evict tweety bird from the accessory drive, and an ebay header. Hub bearing was delivered yesterday (thank you, Amazon Prime) but now I won't have a chance to change it out until probably after the 1st of the year
Header should be here Friday for my wife to wrap up and put under the tree (yeah, it's like that).
87.92 shipped from Indiana
And 20 bucks shipped... from NC, I think.

Did you replace the rear main seal at the time?
My girls' is leaking and I'm curious if It's the rear main and not just the oil pan gasket. I was looking to do the felpro pan gasket as you did, so it's good to see yours came out well.

Might not be the RMS or the pan gasket either... here's some things to check:

That should be a sticky or something.
We may be checking and replacing all of these things this spring. VC gasket is OK, (replaced by previous owner) but perhaps the other things need replaced too. There's a good amount of "gook" around the oil filter side of the engine, so I wonder if the adapter gasket is toast.
other than the steering, we seem to be at a stand still on building it any further, so now I think we'll just resign to keeping it on the road and dependable.

Pretty impressed with the quality. I'll know more once I install it... which won't be for about a week, unfortunately.
The dents you see in it are because this schnazzy little bonus (read: happy accident) was in the box laying loose...
1/2" drive, 84 tooth Flex-head Gearwrench ratchet.
Already contact the shipper and they said they didn't need it. SCORE!

That's kinda why I went ahead and went with the cheapy ebay header. It appeared to be constructed the same as the APN header, they're both made in China, and this one was less than half the cost of the APN SHIPPED! Figure if I'm going to get a header that may just end up cracking again anyway, might as well be about as cheap as I can go without it looking like it was made out of towel rack tubing.
