The last thing I did before Christmas was my Bushwacker install. The install was pretty easy except very time-consuming. After getting the stock flares and brackets off, I taped the fender up for cutting:
After that, cut and fold, and then primer (and eventually paint):
Install the inner flare for mounting:
And then attach the outer flare:
And now fully installed:
And the side profile for comparison from the original:
Now I just need to flex him out to see what a difference it made...

That's what I was doing for a while, too. I finally decided that 3" is plenty and you can still do lots with it. The higher the lift, the more top heavy it becomes, the harder it is to access your cargo, and harder to fit in your garage. With my current setup, I clear the top of my garage opening by about 1" (of course that's because of my rack and tire, too). The 3" option and 31s is cheaper and I can still go everywhere I want/need to.

Thanks folks!
After I installed the fender flares, I over-cut one of my rear bumper end caps so I need to get another one from a junkyard...
Over Thanksgiving, JCR was running a deal on their Stage 3 sliders so I placed my order then. They are still sitting in the box in my garage and I'm not sure when I'll have a chance to work on them. They still need to be primered and painted, too.

And I wanted to add, you're going the exact route I'm planning. 3" lift, 31s, open up the wheel wells a bit, and build sort of an expedition/hiking/camping rig. I'm loving it.
Toss on a swing out tire carrier to open up some interior, and some rocker protection, and you've got exactly what I want to build.

I found them on AutoAnything but it looks like they've raised their rates ~$90 since November. Quadratec can match any advertised price so you're best bet is seeing what Google can find it for and take that price to Quadratec. Right now Race-Mart has them for $3 less than I bought mine for.

Found some time today to get my sliders closer to install. They are all primered now and I'll need to find some time to make a store run for some black paint.
One thing I was a bit bummed about is when I opened the package from JCR, all of the bolts, nuts, and washers were spilled in the box as the pouch split open. Not that big of a concern other than I'm missing two washers and a nut now. I guess I'm going to the store for more than just paint. At least the JCR sticker wasn't missing.
