'01 grand cherokee laredo wont start
Hi everyone,
'01 GCL 4.0 won't start, it turns over everything sounds good it just wont start. I tried jumping with my XJ to prevent the battery from draining but didn't help.
it ran fine friday and sat all day saturday while it was raining. could it be moisture set in somewhere? or fuel pump, filter ??? any help would be great thanks

Turn the key on. Listen for the pump. it should run for a few seconds. If you hear nothing get under it near the fuel tank and have some ells turn the key on while you are down there. Be sure key is in the off position first.
If you hear the pump prime then you probably have a spark problem.

Depress the schrader valve on the fuel rail. It should spray out if there's fuel pressure. IDK any easy way to check spark with coil packs except by removing one and grounding a terminal with an old spark plug. Check/replace the ASD relay.

Spray starting fluid into the intake, if the engine starts and runs for a bit, you have spark. If nothing happens, you don't have spark. If you have spark but the engine won't stay running, you fuel issues.

You will want to check the fuses and relays before you decide to throw a pump at it.
