Is there any fix possible at all just to get the heat blowing warm for winter--such as permanently closing the blend doors, and then operating things when it gets too hot by just turning the unit on/off....Just need something to get me through winter months...Is it possible to just reach in once accessed though glove box and somehow move blend doors fully shut--provided the doors themselves are not broken, (I guess)? I won't be needing cool air in KC until spring, and most likely will trade or sell mine by then....Thanks again to everyone for your help!!!

The glove box is quite tricky to fully open. You need small hands to reach up within the glove box to stop the ‘sharks teeth’ catching on the rubber hoops - brute force helps.

From memory they used a hot tool in the video to cut a hole in the plastic duct work. For what it is worth, I drilled small holes in strategic locations (large enough to accommodate a junior hacksaw blade) and cut it out.

You will need to modify the cut out section, adding material at, at least a couple of locations to stop if falling in when offered up to close the hole.
You can then tape it up, or glue it back in position.

The video and my fix were applied to a WJ with dual auto climate control.
Other variants will need alternate fixes.

Applied this fix on a 200 GC, RHD. Got to the blender doors to find that they were still intact ( no sign of any damage). Changed them for two metal ones, checked that they worked , checked the computer code , great zero showing, believed the problem to be fixed. ten mins later , no heat and the computer is now showing the blender door fault codes again. Removed the main fuse for ten seconds and then put it back, checked heater again, and no fault showing, and moderate heat coming through, this lasted for ten minutes and then reverted back to the same problem.

Well, Mr Magic I can only guess that you have a fault on the controller board, that selects the blend door position(s).

From memory, the control board is integral to the dual climate control adjustment/display. Although your problem could be an intermittent electrical connection causing such a reset. You can bet that the control board ain’t cheap, being a Jeep bespoke part - you might be lucky and find one at a breakers.

Here’s something that might do the job on ebay at £49 +p&p

At that price, I might be tempted to give it a try.

Cheers for that Hymie, I was suprised when I removed the old doors to find that they were still intact, no breaks or damage to be seen. I replaced them with the new ones, and before I sealed the side of the box up again, I re-attached the motor and checked and double checked that the doors were going up and down as they should.

The computer showing a 0 code , I thought all my troubles were sorted. The only other thing I could think of is that the air con may need charging ( unsure when it was last done) and maybe that had something to do with the lack of heat problem. But that would not explain the door codes stating that the door travel was the fault. I am considering purchasing the unit you sent me a link for, as anything is worth a try. Thanks.

Default blend doors (repair kit)

I purchased the blend door repair kit on-line and did the work myself. It required cutting a hole through plastic to view and replace the blend doors. Not a huge job and saved lots of money. I am not a mechanic.

My old blend doors turned out to be okay but I replaced them anyway. I still have low air flow from my 3 dash vents only on the passenger side. Everything else is fine.
